I'm looking for my perfect mtb multitool. It must have:
3,4,5 mm Allen keys
Cross head
Flat head
T25
Blade
*pliers
*Valve core remover/tightener
Chain tool
Chain hook
Tubeless repair tools
Bottle opener
Pliers are so needed, but no bike multitool exists with pliers and Allen keys etc. I don't want to carry 2 tools.
Ideas?
I’m sure my topeak something has all those. Couldn’t tell you which one it is though!
Actually saying that maybe not pliers. I carry a regular multi tool on big days out sometimes for that
You might need to be a bit creative. For example you can get valve caps with a built in valve tool so they are always with you. Tubeless tools can live in your bars or bb axle. Does that count as not carrying 2 tools? I can see pliers might be handy but I can't think of a single occasion when they would've been essential, is it really a deal breaker?

They've saved me a couple of times, getting the little knurled ring off a tubeless valve so you can install a tube
I Carry a set of jewelry pliers as I've never found a decent folding set or multitool that has them on. Use them fairly regularly. In winter with cold hands they can be vital for simple tasks.
I'd want 6 and 8mm Allen keys as well.
In reality Ive got a topeak one that I suppliment for bigger days out. Stored in a pencil case its easy to find and drop in my Camelback.
I've not looked at tools for ages though so am just here for the responses.
Never did find a multitool with pliers, but I have a tiny leatherman for that. I think it's one of these:
That's less than 6cm long when closed and has small pliers/cable cutters/scissors.
I have come to the conclusion that separate tools are better than one all singing all dancing tool.
I have the following in my pack:
Topeak Mini 10
Gerber Dime
Park Chain tool CT-5
Tubeless repair bits
Yep, I don't think all in one is a great idea.
Multitool with hex/t25/chaintool.
Leatherman Style PS with pliers/scissors/tweezers (and will open bottles). Pliers are thin enough to undo quicklinks.
Separate tubeless jabber kit.
Spare quicklinks taped to cables (enduro pro stylee)
Take a pencil case
Place the tools you need inside the pencil case (real ones)
Place the pencil case in your riding bag/pocket.
Job jobbed.
I've had to use pliers to remove a tubeless valve but, the better solution is to use valve nuts that don't require pliers. I've switched to using Ratbite valves as they can be done by hand and have an Allen key fitting at the base and replaceable rubber washers (but the colour is a bit loud). I've also bought some valve core remover valve caps and put one on each bike.
One Up EDC + Leatherman Style + a valve core cap.
I have a one up edc which has optional bacon strips and plyers as part of the tool. Spendy but its always on the bike.
Plyers were perfect for not only valves but gear cable pulling when it slipped.
LEathernman squirt and a ratchet rocket and a seperate chain tool.
I hate multitools that are huge and get in the way.
Topeak PT30 ticks quite a few boxes:
3,4,5 mm Allen keys
Cross head
Flat head
T25
Blade
Chain tool
Chain hook
Tubeless repair tools
*Valve core remover/tightener
But not:
*pliers
Bottle opener
Can you not open a bottle with any multitool/tyre lever/flat piece of metal/stone/piece of tree? Failing that I normally just use another bottle with the cap on.
Or buy screw tops?
Yeah you should be able to lever a bottle top off with virtually anything, even a stick
I have a one up edc which has optional bacon strips and plyers as part of the tool. Spendy but its always on the bike.
I didnt get that optional extra on mine (prefer to use my existing bacon and was able to stuff a few extra bits in the storage tube). Do the plyers work as plyers? I thought they were just quick link plyers
The wolf tooth pack plyers seem to do everything bar the chainbreaker - Andrew from NSMB has a hack for that, bolting on the oneup chain breaker to the mechanism.
