I read that as "XTR 2012 Black" for some reason. A small bit of wee came out.

Unless they've made them out of black aluminium I reckon they'll start to look stripy after a few rides. The black Deore I used to have did. Careful use of helitape maybe?

It was indeed one of the German sites.

http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k407/a51795/xt-m785-groupset-2x10-40-28-without-brakes-rapidfire-10-speed-black.html

They have the 2 crank options but I went for 40/28 and a 11-34 cassette.

Came in at £345 posted then just had to get it all fitted. I've already helitaped the crank arms but the finish looks pretty durable.

Right as promised here's some pics,

Forgot to say that included in the price was chainset, front mech, rear mech, shifters, chain and cassette. All came in boxes except the cassette which was wrapped in brown paper.

I've already fitted the official Shimano matchmaker clamp thing which looks really good too.

thats great mannnn! cheers for that, it really does look pretty stealthy in black i lovesss it! thanks for that!

just out of interest did you go from 3x9? i know your running 2x10, how does shifting etc compare to the 9 speed stuff? much difference or just much prettier 😆

thank you again! love the all black look, should look smart with a white frame!

Yeah I went form 2011 XT M770 full groupset 3x9 with 22, 32, 44 chainset and 11-32 cassette.

I was getting to the stage I wasn't using all the gears anyway so was a natural progression to 2x10.
The combination I've gone for loses a little on road top speed stuff on the big ring and on the granny (steep stuff)slightly, I never used 22 front and 32 rear anyway. I'm now using the full range on both front rings.

M780 shifters are miles ahead of the M770, much more positive, it just clicks and slots straight in. The front shifter also has a screw which switches between 2 or 3 so no worrying about altering the limit screws.

If you don't like the black, here's some silly cheap 10 spd stuff 😀

A mate has had this for a few weeks, after 2 damp rides the finish on the both cranks has started to wear off....

Saying that my XTR ones did more or less the same...

Good luck!

Why didn't Shimano bother making a black front mech too?

Got in silver with the XTR switchable rear mech, shame it's only had 4 rides and is now gathering dust due to my broken scaphoid. grrrrrrrrr

I have the groupset but the silver crank arms. I didn't go for the black as I thought it may wear within time. The brake levers aren't very strong though. Mine have chipped already. It's just plastic. And the XT writing on them is wearing off!

I'd agree the deore matt black is lovely, not convinced about that XT shiney black though. Especially if it wears off easily, it'll just look nasty.
