After the serious cut and thrust of the last topic I put on here, I thought I'd wax lyrical and be a bit positive.

I'll set the scene......

It's probably the best trail around where I live. I'm pedalling hard to start with - to get the speed up for some flowwwwwwwww. I've got enough speed to float over the roots near to a big tree - for a better line over a compresion - pump through this then get ready for a series of jinks and bumps as the gradient picks up. Move to the front for some hip-action through a couple of the tighter twists. Boost the big root for a bit of air-time into the steepest part, land it, split second to soak it up then on the brakes on the last possible bit of dirt before the roots. Get the speed just right so the roots rattle under ASAP. Then on the brakes again for the crux - the off-camber drop-in around the holly bush. Need to slow down enough to be off the brakes over the diagonal root that I must cross if I am to keep the flow. Catch a bit of a slide, cut tight to another tree use the fallen-down end of the stone wall to gap some rocks, land in the slot with a couple of inches between bar end and then keep the speed up to the bottom.

For the past minute, there have been no work issues, no financial crisis, no aggro from anyone - just the zone.

Of course to the bystander it looks and sounds like what it is - a muddy, sweaty, thirty-something bloke riding an oversized BMX like a kid and making a noise like someone's kicking a toolbox down behind him.

But I like it.
