Glorious out there this lunchtime for a quick gravel blat around the woods 😀
It's clouded over now just in time for the holiday weekend 🙄
Glorious day today - went over to Hamsterley and did a nice route with a bit of everything (reds, blacks, bridleway, fire road, off piste):
Lots of epic riding this week 🙂 We had the brother in law and his family staying and my youngest nephew loves mountain biking so my daughter couldn’t wait to take him to the local trails and tow him into the jumps. It also prompted her to hit a few more gaps that had more technical and tricky run ins… and prompted me to put a lot more air into her suspension as the words go easy don’t appear to compute 🤣 and the little toad has the reactions of a cat! Oh, and we had an epic day at Gwydyr too, tech and flow 😎
My nephews bike was a little the worse for wear, I had a Sentry Pro languishing unloved in the shed and lots of parts, so one quick build later and he has a nice new (to him) bike.
Came out of bank holiday hibernation to bang out a big morning over Rooley Moor, starting and finishing in Todmorden. Those two standing stones are the doorposts of a 19th century inn that serviced the Cotton Famine Road. I like this kind of stuff.

Took my mate out on his first forest ride on his new ebike after work yesterday. He loved it! 15 miles in total, which is not bad for someone that hasn't been on a bike in years. His little bike handled it brilliantly too.
I headed out for a wee spin around my local woods last night in an attempt to ease my sore and stiff legs from Monday's ebike crash where I fell down a 6ft drop.
Didn't work, I'm still really sore this morning but it was great getting out for a post work ride without lights.
So many options today, struggled to decide!
Gentle spin along the canal to Skipton. Ducklings!
Then over Barden Moor
A truly glorious day out there
Local gravel yesterday, and local road loop this afternoon. About 8 degrees cooler temperature today 🌞😁
Bit of an experiment yesterday. We booked onto the Ember bus with our bikes (using bus pass), headed to Dunkeld and rode back.
Lovely tailwind all the way. Short sleeve weather. Couple of cafe stops. And back to the Old Bridge Inn for a couple of rehydration beers afterwards.
We're already considering other routes using the Ember bus service.

Did bikes go in the onboard in the disabled area, or in the hold?
I'm tempted to try it to get from Aberdeen to Ballater but I'd be a bit concerned about having a filthy bike for the return journey.

In the hold. We didn't have any bags/covers and weren't provided with any. Maybe the driver would have provided one if we'd asked? It would certainly be a bit inconsiderate to put a manky bike in with folks luggage and I'd be surprised if they didn't have something to cover that possibility.
Don't often get out on the club Wednesday ride, but it's school holidays so I did manage it tonight.
Lots of midweek riding for me this week: school hols at Glentress. School is important, but learning biking skills is importanter:
I headed off-piste solo yesterday for some eMTB fun: B-Side, Cock Nostril etc. Good fun.
Hardtail from the back door after a day of heavy downpours, turned into a nice evening.
damn that’s a clean shot, rain really did you a favor here lol, trails look perfect not dusty not muddy mess, just right. that light through the trees hits nice too, kinda jealous tbh, my local spot is either swamp or concrete these days 😅
Yorkshire's summer turned up yesterday. Short gravel ride with Mrs HTO ...
Back to cool & cloudy today, quick local play on the SS HT before settling down to work ...
First proper ride in just shorts and t-shirt yesterday after work.
Bluebells are starting to come out and trails are running nicely. Second photo seemed a bit Mint Sauce if you squint.
EDIT: Image uploader isn't playing nice. I'll try again later or wait for the new WRPT.
Too good a morning to waste...

A "route 66" trip this morning, down the Calder valley canal/Greenway via a quick coffee stop in brighouse to Dewsbury, up the spen valley way to low moor, through Bradford to Shipley and down the Leeds Liverpool to catch the train home, along with loads of Leeds fans getting some early ale down before tonight's game.. ![]()

After last weeks DH bashing in La Palma, change of pace today. Spot of bluebell hunting in the local woods. That HT feels light, fast and a bit twitchy after a week on the Bronson!
It was a nice morning for a ride. Sadly, I couldn't stay out too long because a customer had arranged a phone call. 😕
Lovely sunny day, even though the headwind return was a bit tough.
Not bad for a first (imperial) century of the year though.
Couple of photos from my commute to and from work today.
First at about 6am, second at about 5pm.
On a bit of a recce near Perth while walking the child, beautiful springtime trails although just a smidge too hacky with fallen trees etc. for the bike I think.
Not quite Van Gogh’s ‘starry night’, but a nice ride over the cobbles and past some ornate lampposts.
In the Chatel valley this week. Trails are still difficult at higher levels due to the snow. But everything lower down is running beautifully.
I popped out last night for a quick ride up a riverside trail starting from my front door. When I got to the top of the climb, I rested my bike against Spewey Yewey, one of my favourite trees and reflected on the changes to this trail over the past 30 years.
I used to do this in about 40-45 minutes, but nowadays, with the heavier soil, gradient increases due to tectonic rebound, and of course Brexit. The same trail is taking me around 20-25 minutes longer to complete. Makes you think, eh?
I've been missing in action for the past week - a grim gastric bug/virus thing has rendered me largely housebound since last Friday, owing to the need to be in close proximity to the little room AT ALL TIMES!
Anyway, I seem to be recovering now, so booked some time out of the diary this morning and had a joyous (if energy-depleted) couple of hours / 30km on the Moxie.
Spent a great day on Tuesday at Kielder - riding the trails on the Deadwater side, in some cases to catch views, in others to ride sections of trail that I'd only raced on previously and not had the time to session more than a few times. The weather was mostly good and trail conditions also good.
View from the top of Deadwater fell - Peel Fell in the near distance, Rubers Law and Elidon Mid Hill in the far distance.
Near the end of the day - I hadn't planned to stop here, but it was just so verdant!
Is Friday the weekend or midweek 🤔
Anyway, first trip around Wharnecliffe today. Why has it taken so long to come down here?? Bloody brilliant. Trails are lovely and dry too

Compounded by isostatic uplift and increased air density from climb-it change no doubt.
