What have they done?

Temporary during forestry operations I think

Me and a mate decided to "have a mooch" and see how closed it was. In our heads there was a couple of logs accross the trail and after that all would be good. in realitity the middle section with the "north shore" bits has had the arse ripped out of it and it is pretty much impassable.

I believe that it's only temporary whilst they log the area.

Also in the pipeline is a new section on the CLIMACH-X. There is an extention planned for the final descent to come all the way to the car park at the start/finish

That's from their website so it seems like they're going to clear it up when they're done and also make it longerer!
