I wouldn't want a bike with a slacker HTA than a nomad.
Also "better" is subjective. Better for you does not mean better for anyone else.

[quote=alex222 ]Calm down hob nob. Yes there are people who ride bikes faster than other people. I was asking questions not making statements. I should have put a ? in there where the first . was.
But S-works enduro is pretty much the same in terms of travel as a mojo hd 160 and has a slightly longer tt and slightly slacker ht and a slightly shorter rear end which I would say gives it slightly better geometry.
I take it you've never actually ridden one then? There's far too much hypothesising about what is good/best/better based upon figures in a catalogue.

Quality thread .

Sounds like a mojo HD or a nomad C is the answer to the OP's prayers.

I have a Mojo, and have ridden the same year enduro (2010), the enduro is 90% of the bike that mojo is for approx 60% of the cost.

Enduro is the best VFM, mojo HD or nomad if money no object.

Cant comment on the others as I havent ridden them, but I suspect they're all equally as good/bad as the enduro but in different ways.

A reply from someone in the bike industry (and, yes, I was trolling with my silly reply in the "tight crown race" thread) - if you came to me and wanted to spend £4000, I'd make sure you got the bike you wanted.

If you're spending £4000 and you've got a specific set of requirements, you're very unlikely to find an off-the-peg bike that's exactly what you want. That's why bike shops will swap components or custom build for you. There's no point spending that much money on something that you've only seen or read about in a magazine, you need to try lots of bikes, ride lots of bikes and know what you do and don't want, from experience rather than reviews and forums.

What I'm saying is that you aren't wrong to be demanding, but you need to be sure what your demands are and take them to the right place. You're not going to be happy with a stock bike and if you've got that much money to spend, you don't have to be.

five frame, CCDB coil, Fox 36 RLC...

^^^ This - unless of course you ride in Surrey, in which case a carbon nomad or mojo hd will fit the bill better 🙂

I don't think cheapness comes into it when you're looking at a 5 grand trail weapon 😛

Well no; however I thought you showing reverse snobbery to carbon frames and suggesting that they were the reserve of the Surrey elite based on their price.

@OP: don't do it on the tick. When the bike is old and tired you'll still be making payments that feel very new.

Buy what you can now for what you have, S/H maybe, then upgrade and recycle bits, or the frame, as you can afford it.

Nothing wrong with finance, if that's what works for him.
It worked fine for me on two bikes as long as I kept the finance bit to £200 per month for 10months.

In 10 non-winter months, not much needs replacing and £200/m was doable comfortably for me at that time.

That's not true now though and I wouldn't do it on finance now. But I would if I was salaried again, maybe.
