You can buy my Nomad Carbon frame & build it up with the spec you desire for that sort of money 🙂

I do agree with his point to a certain extent regarding Specialized, for example. It's bloody annoying they only offer most bikes as a full build.

Nukeproof = CRC. Not the smallest player in the industry.

Yeah I guess that's how it comes across.. but my point is more that the bike industry seems to be trying to extract more and more cash out of us yet not getting the basics right; Availability, sensible component choice.....

You're taking the piss, right?
Ever heard if the Specialized Pitch? I paid £999 for mine, did a bit of buying and selling and it's as good as any of the £5k stuff you can't find or afford. I know you can't afford it because you need finance. There's 7 bikes in my garage, I don't think they cost much more than that combined. The best bike is the one you're riding.

My Cube GTC Agree came fitted with Ultremo ZX. They don't get much better than that.

Good tyres - but Cube's come with OEM ones that weight 1/2lb more per pair than the aftermarket jobs! Steel bead and different compound.

theroadwarrior,
I looked at everything before getting a Mega. Great bike at any price, even better at the current deal price. Love mine for everything from all day Peak epics to mini DH missions. Personally that's what I'd do and pocket the difference, spent it on some nice riding kit and a few days away.

I want to do either the mega avalanche or some uk gravity enduro races next year so whatever I choose needs to be suitable

The guys I ride with did the Inners and GT gravity Enduro's, and most of them ride hardtails...

Pretty sure there are lts of options but are you really going to enjoy riding all day on a 160mm travel bike. Pretty sure that will give you something else to moan about in a new thread entitled:

Gutted no one told me 160mm of travel doesn't work for all day jaunts.

Hmmm. Ok but try not to do it again. It is Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee year & we shouldn't let standards slip.

How aboout a Transition Covert?

Without wishing to be rude or funny....you have decided you need to spend 5k on a very specific bike at the traditional model year end and it is not proving straightforward. This should not be that surprising!

A fair bit in the sales notwithstanding the above.

If anyone had said so, they'd be wrong. Some 160mm bikes can't pull it off, but better ones can.

Roadwarrior

from your last post and my review in dirt... i rate the mega very very highly....VFM and performance is impossible to beat unless you are an internet only brand.

Nukeproof are CRC's own brand.....technically its therefore the biggest brand in the world....BUT...with the flexibilty and forward hinking and dvelopment of a smaller company....

I cannot wait for my 2013 mega.....

get a discounted 2012 pro...amazing piece of kit..or wait until jan for the 2013

EDIT# oh and the mega has PROPER mavic UST and maxxis hi roller UST tyres, 1X10, the only thing that will need an upgrade will be the shock to a monarch plus if you start to do racing or big alpine stuff......sorted.

2013 mega will have the monarch plus, as well as the hollow X0 cassette....but will be about £200 more than 2012 list....again great value

First world problem par excellence! But fair play to the OP - If I was going to spend £4000 on a bike, I'd expect it to be perfect in every conceivable way, and for the MD of the company that made it to bring me breakfast in bed every Sunday.

"For that kind of cash i would be buying a frame and building up my own bike"
+ 1 to that.
It sounds like the OP has a very specific set of requirements and is clearly an expert in all things bike so should have no problem building up the bike of his dreams with £5k.

Papal gift the 5k and I will send you bike of much awsomeness as my uncle cannot ride it due to the unfair restrictions on him. Also have lots of gold and stuff.

Go to a proper bike shop and tell them how much and what you want. Built bikes are a just the tip of the iceberg. Look at Santa Cruz must have the biggest range of build options.

In fairness for that kind of cash you should be buying an s-works enduro frame and building it up..... but oh yeah

Iirc, nukeproof aren't a crc own brand, they were founded in 1992 in America. And, aren't hotlines the disti?

This or a Nomad. Great bikes made by companies who look after their customers.

That's how they started, but now afaik:
Nukeproof = Hotlines = CRC

Hence why the CRC downhill team have been riding prototype Nukeproof frames at the last couple of BDS rounds.

Yeah. He doesn't have the money to actually buy a bike, so he needs to get into debt on finance, which is easier on a full bike from a big brand in a flashy dealers. Simples.

I think that the geo on the mojo is not perfect and neither is the nomad c. Also don't Nomad C crack at the seat stays?

S-works enduro is the perfect bike/frame regarding geometry but you can't get them in the uk.

Hotlines/CRC bought the Nukeproof brand name.

This must be one of the most ridiculous #firstworldproblems posts ever. If you actually had some money it would be slightly less daft, but you don't.

Evans Cycles stock Santa Cruz and will do you a build to your spec on one. They might even price match the best component prices you can find online, though don't know if they will do this on a finance deal.
That way you can spec it to your heart's content and get finance.

If you actually want to get into debt to the tune of £5k for a bike of course...

Alternate approach - buy it on credit card from wherever the hell you want either on a 0% intro offer, or balance transfer to a 0% for x months card.

Honestly, what a load of drivel over nothing.

There's more kit out there than you can shake a stick at. Buy a bike, go ride...

In your opinion of course. There are plenty of people who will disagree on both counts & ride a whole lot faster than anyone on here.

The Enduro is evolving to be a bigger & bigger bike & for most UK based stuff it's getting way too long & cumbersome except on flat out, balls to the wall stuff.

And no, the Nomad's don't crack on the seat stays. Considering the beating most of them take, it's very rare to hear of a broken one at all.

Give me a nomadC or Mojo HD over an Enduro any day of the week.

Calm down hob nob. Yes there are people who ride bikes faster than other people. I was asking questions not making statements. I should have put a ? in there where the first . was.

But S-works enduro is pretty much the same in terms of travel as a mojo hd 160 and has a slightly longer tt and slightly slacker ht and a slightly shorter rear end which I would say gives it slightly better geometry.
