Now is probably the time to pass on my beloved stumpy fsr, its literally being sat doing nothing for years. If i can get some cash for that I'll put it towards something more modern at the end of the year.

seems to just be bikes under £2k selling well. Parts and components don’t seem to be any difference

I've had people asking me if I'd sell my Voodoo Hoodoo while I was out riding it, more than once! It's had one or two upgrades (Brand X dropper, hand-me-down RaceFace crank) but unless you're really into your bikes it looks completely stock, hasn't stopped one guy offering £500 for it. If I could easily replace it I would but it's worth more to me now than I could get for it. Strangely no approaches when I've taken the Fuel EX out.

It's a bonkers bubble. I just hope that bike shops don't over order now and then end up with loads of discounted bikes later on.

I sold my 2017 Canyon Endurace at the weekend for 80% of what I paid for it! And that's with some minor cosmetic damage. It's absolutely crazy. I felt guilty taking that much money for it.

I've got my Enduro bike up in eBay now. Hadn't really thought about selling, but with the prices things are getting now and the fact I'm not doing any gnarly riding at the mo, it seems like an ideal time to get maximum price, and get an order in for a 2021MY bike!

It’s a crap time to be buying. I’ve been looking for a cheap gravel thing so I can build up fitness riding on local towpaths and bridleways. The MTB isn’t getting ridden at the moment as I can’t do hills (chest infection has knocked me on my arse).

There are still some cheap bikes out there. Search eBay by category "Sporting `goods / Bike", select within 20 miles (or however far you want to go to collect) and look through all the listings as most will be pickup only being a bike and not something easy to send

People are still very bad at posting and I still see the title as "Bike' rather than make and model so won't be found via search so this way you get to see everything.

The wife's Specialized Myka hasn't turned a wheel for years. It's practically in as new condition, I think I'll dust off the cobwebs and see if we get any interest.

You will, I've seen several sell this week and the cheapest went for £220, 26", rim brakes. My wife's is currently at £74 with 8 days to go and 30+ watchers.

Give it a good clean, plenty of good quality pictures, and make sure you put no buy it now in the advert, you'll still get asked but not every 5 minutes 😀

I'd also avoid drawing attention to the fact that the Myka model is marketed to women.

I put my Croix de fer up on Facebook market place yesterday and have not had a sniff. I put a full description and a few photos and set the price similar to what I've seen on other ads for similar bikes in a similar condition. Maybe the bubble has burst and I missed it or maybe the average Joe has never heard of Genesis or more likely, I'm asking too much for it 🤔

I'll give it till Monday and if I still don't have any interest by then I'll slash the price as although I'm not riding it, it's a great bike and could be used by someone to get them to work or to improve their health.

That's strange I've just got an offer on my bike, not one of you guys? It's a bit cheeky as it's a fair wack less than the asking price but I suppose you don't get if you don't ask.

Just to put this in context, a mate of mine is after a new hybrid in about the 800 quid range. I asked for recommendations on here a few days ago.

Everything that was recommended is out of stock, with none expected until August. And I do mean absolutely everything. There is nothing decent in stock anywhere

@didnthurt

Have you checked what marketplaces it's listed on facebook and the location is correct? If it's on the general marketplace should be lots of takers I'd think.

Sometimes you can set it so it's only on the buy and sell page for your village or something and will get limited interest.

I’ve been looking for a budget one for a while

@thisisnotaspoon How tall are you? I’ve been casually looking to sell a mint Dolan FXE for ages, but you’ll need to be about 6ft or so.

Sold my diamond back rigid singlespeed 29er within 5 mins of putting it on facebook market place yesterday. Had 7 people chasing it until it was collected, can't help but think that some people are buying to sell on again.

Will test the water at the weekend on the recognised brands front as I am going to list my Dialled Bikes Prince Albert.

Lots of that going on but happens with most things.

I've put my YT up for £2100 2 years old and with all the upgrades cost me £2600, I've been offered £2150 😐

My Croix de fer is a 56, I'm in West Lothian. I'm 5'11" and fits me fine.

I think the guy who enquired about my bike is tyre kicker, he says "he's only looking for a pal" and that "he's not really after that type of bike"
Or could just be chancing his arm.

Thinking about it, you could make a few hundred a week cash in hand by being first to make an offer below the price and then selling it again the next week at the original sellers price.

One sold for £950 in April but as you think it was basically worthless I will give you £100 to get it out of the way 🙂

Hey mister! Can I have a shot of your bike? (Always had a soft spot for the Scott Spark but never had one).

The lady at the Post Office greeted me this morning with "more bike stuff" and I have to go back tomorrow.

Might be the right time to sell a Turbo Levo, with the Levo SL due to be picked up, just had a new motor, battery and chain in the last month.

You aren't wrong:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ladies-Apollo-Outback-gt18-mountain-bike-18-Frame-12-gears-not-used-in-years-/324183056617?nav=SEARCH

That's close to its new price in 1994!

Is there an issue with selling a bike on ebay for collection and then taking payment via Paypal in advance?

If they collect can they then claim they never got the bike ? And then try a Paypal claim?

In which case do I need a photo of them putting the bike in their car!?

If anyone is looking to buy new under 1k I'd suggest looking at decathlon. They have a 105 roadie 11sp with cable brakes for 750 at the mo, and there was a decent MTB the similar money, if you can get past the pressfit BB.

I hired a Decathlon alloy rim brakes road bike when in Italy last year. I was very impressed with it. It had 105 gears and brakes and handled really well, not as nice as my Ritchey logic but then the Decathlon is less than half my Ritchey cost.

They can claim they've not received it. The only proof PayPal will accept is proof of delivery by a courier to their registered address. No amount of photos will help. To my knowledge, you should be OK with Paypal gift, as I think that's the same as a bank transfer (eBay might not give you that option though), but I would always go with bank transfer if they were picking up in person.

To be clear DO NOT let them use PayPal goods and services if you aren't using a courier.
