Apparently he is doing it now and aiming for less than 21.6 days to cover 4801 miles.

Is it just me or does he look like some sort of wild eyed speed freak gunning at a rave at 5am?

There's not a lot of leeway to beat the record. I think you'd need someone like Mike Hall or Kristof Allegaert to make a serious dent in it.
