Arhhhhh meant to racing tomorrow and I'm starting to feel pretty rough.

Don't fancy travelling 10 hours for 40 minutes of racing, but man do I want to race.

There are however some exceptions to this but you must ensure you have
diagnosed the problem correctly first.

Here are a few points to follow:

If you have a sore throat, donโ€™t touch the bike at all until the soreness has completely gone. Then, regardless of how well you feel, only train lightly form the next few days.

A sore throat is often the first sign of infection and can develop into either sore lungs (a chest cold), or it can move up into the head. If it goes down onto the chest, again, donโ€™t train until all the symptoms have completely gone, and then train only lightly for a few days. However, if it becomes a head cold, with the classic symptoms of a runny nose etc., then continue to train as normal if you feel okay to do so, but keep the intensity reasonably low until it has completely cleared up.

These are only loose guidelines but, if you do as I suggest, you should be able to train throughout the Winter with no serious breaks.

The most important point to remember is to never ever train with a sore
throat, as there is a real danger that the infection could migrate to the major
organs, so be warned!

I went for a ride tuesday night felt brilliant ride was great, 5 hours later on was chucking up out of both ends and laid up in bed for 2 days, just managed to eat a little last night.

Amazed how quickly the body goes from one state to another, feel much better today.

Thanks guys.

Yes driving so far seems somewhat odd having written it down like that!

No sore throat, no cold in the head, just general aches and a little cough. Will pack tonight and see how I feel in the morning.

Been surrounded by ManFlu victims in the office this last week and have been dreading that back-of-the-throat cold feeling. But no, I HAVE SURVIVED - GRRRRRRR!

You could try some Vicks First Defence - worked for me last year when I felt a cold coming on.

Had the same feeling a few weeks back just before D2D.Rode easy, tried not to exert myself too much & called it a day around 3:30am still feeling ok,but it was lashing down & thought it was for the best really. Two days later the sore throat from hell set in, then an attack of the shivers & sweats, really felt like crap!Three weeks on & I'm only just starting to feel something like decent again.....I'd give it a miss & rest up...

Spent years using the rule "Above the neck, train - Below the neck, dont train"...

However, having broken my ankle yesterday i'd kill for just a cold ๐Ÿ™

Yep had it last week. Went out Saturday for a pre race training session and seemed very okay.
By saturday night the sore throat and mouth arrived. Packed to race anyway, but was sweating cobs in the car on the way so I turned around.

Won't be racing this weekend either.

Nice hot bath awaits. Country walks, midweek turbos a reliability trial on the 6th and I should be good to go.

Does that Baroca stuff actually do anything then ?

Had symptoms week or so back. Ignored them, as you do, & went out for a run. Nearly feinted, tight chest, dizzyness etc. Tried to run through it as we men do. Silly mistake. Ended up walking home, slowly.

Sorry, but it's a cold.

It's a minor upper respiratory tract infection that resolves in a few days, so any chance that you could stop whining about it and generally personTFU?

I've been suffering with a right stinker of one for 10 days. The cough is the worst, that and the fluctuating body temperature and complete lack of appetite ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

So didn't I didn't travel, race, or train Saturday. Got two long undisturbed sleeps in (many thanks to my little ones for also sleeping well). An easy hour this morning on the bike, and now feel fitting fit again. Yeah!
