With 2 road bikes on eBay fetching decent wedge at the moment, I'll have a huge pile of dosh to blow on a new bike soon. ๐Ÿ˜€

Fancy a nice basic karate monkey single speed 29er with the view of putting an Alfine on it at some point...

Owt else I could be considering?

Any s/h offers considered here too. Looking at a large btw. Fancy steel too.

There is one on Retrobike at the moment but for that money I would maybe want a later one. Looks tidy enough though.

Personally having two Surlys already and having flogged my Swift, I would go with a Swift. Nothing against the Surlys as they are ace but the Swift was really very very nice.

I bought one a few months ago. My first 29er in fact my first time on a 29er.
I've been a long time fan of Surlys having had a 1x1 and a crosscheck. It is fantastic. Lively ride, quick and not bad spec wise, although I swapped the saddle, bars, stem and cranks for my personal preference.

Get one, you'll love it.

Swifts look a tad out my price range I am afraid.

Nice thinks though.

I would have though that the Genesis Fortitude fitted the bill (they do an off the peg Alfine version). I think that they're available frame only too.
