....of buying a new frame, a frame I really don't need, but have lusted after for AGES. Have whittled the choice down to two.
Am I alone in finding this sort of thing a stressful experience?

It's not as fun as it used to be, I think that's the issue. I'd have just gone for it a few years ago, but nowadays I keep thinking the bike fund should go in a rainy day fund. I think that's what's ruining the fun.
You're thinking too hard. And is the price of a bike going to be the difference between comfort and misery if times turn hard? Nah.

Too right. I'm going to start a sunny day fund and when there's a sunny day I'll use it to buy a good weather bike, with gears and fast tyres and bouncy bits and all the trimmings.
I think the money will be safe for a while.
