Tan sidewalls look sweet on all black bikes, love the look and feel of the 42 mm Panaracer Gravel Kings, but the sidewall tan literally rubs off in a few months making them look like shyte.
Are there similar tan sidewall tires where the entire sidewall is tan and not just the surface? Something that could even survive winter without permanently discoloring?
Or save my fashion victim tendencies for summer and run Marathons in the winter?
WTB Horizons?
I use the Byways and the tan wall looks like it's not going to wear or discolour any time soon.
Yep, I agree with Scotroutes - WTB Horizons. If you’re not in a super rush, I might be flogging my Horizons - bought them and some nice 650b+ wheels for my Escapade three months ago, and have yet to ride the bike ‘cos of work and sh*t. (Mate wants to buy the bike, but if I do sell it, it’ll be with it’s standard 700c wheels).
People say the puncture resistance on the Horizons aren't anything special, and they might be a bit slow compared to 1.5" tires? Are the sidewalls actually tan or just dyed?
got horizons, year on the road no fading
Panaracer Pasela PT? Though not sure if the sidewall is much different from the Gravel Kings, I've only used the black version.
Grand Bois 'Hetre' or 'Liere' (size specific) garvel road tyres in 650b.
Available from Acycles in France; proper skinwall tyre, so the brown will stay that way. have proven themselves excellent on our tandem.
I've been running Panaracer Gravel Kings on the Slate for around 12 months, no sign of the sidewall rubbing off. Could just be a dodgy batch?
WTB Byways are pure tan sidewall goodness, which isn't going anywhere and looks great on my Marin commuter. Just got some tan wall Vigilantes for my big bike too.
@Highlandman Grand Bois are sweet and im sure they ride wonderfully, but expensive and not sure about puncture protection or durability compared to the e.g. the Schwalbe marathon supreme.
I've been wondering how the Panaracer Pasela PT stack up against e.g. the Marathon Supreme.
Think the solution here might be to run a black reflex strip tire in the winter and put on the fancy shoes in the summer (Panaracer Gravel King, WTB Horizon or Byways, Grand Bois)
