Please.

One-year-old daughter now weighs nearly 20lbs and I'm thinking she must be getting nearly big enough.

What sort do I want? A quick search revealed fixed and reclining models, what's the comparative benefits please?

Lord knows why ST hasn't done a grouptest, I'm sure it's spot on for their demographic.

If she can hold her head up for long enough, she is old enough IIRC, ours were in from around 10 months.
We used 3. A front mounted cheapo jobbie imported from Italy - I suspect it didn't meet UK safety regs.
A post mounted jobbie which provided a bit of bounce; and then
A copilot taxi which comes with a blackburn rack to attach it to.

The Co-Pilot is a good bit of kit, but maybe for when they are larger.

yup if she's strong enough to hold her head then go for it. we started with the highly rates blackburn rack mounted jobbie which is a nice bit of kit. however as 99% of our riding is off road every bump is translated straight into the seat and she hated it.
we know have the cheaper hamax kiss which uses a seat tube mounted bracket and is suspended over the rear wheel, the shocks incurred in normal trail riding are muted so she doesn't get jarred so much.
trailers are also great, unless like us you live in area of horse gates!

also put a helmet on her, you may not think it completely necessary but our little one can now rest her head against the sides of the chair. it's also a good habit for them!!

enjoy!!

I switched from a rear mounted to a http://www.weerideuk.co.uk/

Much safer for fidgets and sleepers.

No good over 17Kg or long legs though.

We use a Hamax sleepy. Use it beause it mounts on the seat tube instead of bolting onto the stays. Also has a bit of give/suspension and our little one has no probs falling asleep in it.

We used a Blackburn CoPilot Limo to start with but if I was buying again I might go for the Hamax for the bump related reasons mentioned earlier.
Once he hit 2&1/2 we got him a LOCT, but that is not suitable until at least two. They need a bit of strength and stamina, and to begin with it limited us to hour long rides. Now though 2 to 3 hour rides mixing fire road and red route round Dalby is standard. Did a 3 hour ride on the edge of Dartmoor a couple of weeks ago. Far more stable through Dixons Hollow skills area.

That bloody copilot also takes a chunk out of my knuckles every time I have to attach / remove it from the rack. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

I use a hamax rack mounted one. Our lads hefty, so I wouldn't fancy anything that wasn't rack mounted - quite a bit of weight to take into account. I have it on my tricross at the moment, and he's gotten used to it quite nicely. I was surprised at how bumpy it was for the bairn back there, I had thoughts about leathering it round trail centre blue routes, but there's no way that's on the cards until he's older. I started him at around 10 months, and he was ok but got a bit upset after a couple of hours. He's now 13 months and used to it, but still doesn't appreciate bumps on the road.

I really like the look of the front mounted ones, but they all seem to enforce a ridiculous cycling position. You'll be riding like John Wayne. I guess this is Ok if you're just pootling about.

Might go for one of them Hamax seat tube mounted jobbies then, as I don't have rack mounts on any of my bikes.

The Weerider looks quite secure, but I don't like the idea of me landing on top of my daughter if I was to crash.
