I'm going to have a whole day to ride in Swaledale in a week or so, as prep for the Kielder 100. Riding up to the Dales Bike Centre on the Friday to stay overnight and riding home on the Sunday.
I used to ride in Swaledale loads, but haven't ridden much up there recently. Any suggestions for a route? Looking for ~50 miles.
Talk to Stu? Or something involving the Tan Hill Inn springs to mind.
reeth, old gang smelt, puncherd gill, tan hill, pennine way, keld, gunnerside, crackpot, apedale road type of a thing you mean....
contact deejay, he's your man for up there.
Something like that Ton.
might fancy that myself.............
How about
Fremington Edge, Hurst, Washfold, Schoolmaster Pasture, Moresdale Road, Stang Lane, Great Punchard Gill, West Moor, William Gill (better than walking across the peat bog), Tan Hill, Pennine Way to Keld, follow the Swale to Ivelet Bridge, Satron, Crackpot, Whirly Gill Head, Oxclose Road to Castle Bolton, Preston Pasture, Chaytor Rake, Snowden Man, Cogden Moor and back to Grinton - 47 miles ๐
I seriously need to get a ride up there soon - last time I was there I was doing the Swaledale Marathon for the 8th time!
Just booked the Dales Bike Centre for the 14th and 15th 8)

Your ageing memory must have distorted the amount of fun we had that day somewhat...
