10 of us are planning to do the above from Whitehaven to Sunderland in 3 days, early June. To make things simple for the return to Sheffield, we will leave cars at the finish and had planned to take the train to Whitehaven on the night before. Sodding West Coast Rail will only take 2 bikes per train and the trip via Newcastle and Carlisle takes 4 hours. Does anyone know of a minibus & trailer setup at either end which will pick us up from Sunderland on a Thursday night and take us to Whitehaven, there is a guy on the Sustrans site but he wants £350 which is a bit ott. Also we could do with a bunkhouse or cheap B&b in Greystoke or Penrith for the Friday night, any ideas?
£350= £35 each, doesn't sound crazy, it's a long drive!
Thanks for the links on transfer companies, both cheaper than the Whitehaven man. Any thoughts on the accommodation problem?
