[Closed] Survey - how big are your calves? ๐Ÿ™‚

[#2198548]

Just curious really... someone commented on my calves today (I wear shorts a lot, even in winter!), had never thought of them as been stupidly big or anything, so took the tape measure out tonight and quantified this, they're 43cm/17" in circumference (at their widest point), ankles are 25cm/10". Years of cycling have made them the only part of my body that can be said to be 'sculpted' I guess! ๐Ÿ˜†

Just wondering what other cyclists measurements are like really, for a laugh...

I am guessing you mean circumference?

A puny 15" here.

Factored against height, coogan will win though.

18.5"

Courtesy of years of lifting weights, cycling and also genetically big calves (inherited from my Dad)

Edit: measured by highly accurate headphone cable and ruler method ๐Ÿ˜‰

They probably contribute, but in a minor way compared to quads, glutes and hamstrings.

When I was at training college there was a guy who had had to have special fireboots made up for his unfeasibly large calves. Boots had to be cut, then triangular inserted "welded" in.

Doubt he'd have been much of a bike rider though. The Rhino rides again!

16" - I've always thought they were super skinny but some seem to be skinnier than mine!

5'8", 42" chest, 29" waist, 11.5 stone if that makes any difference. Oh, it doesn't. Damn.

I've never ever thought about measuring my calves till I read this thread! what a daft thing to do!
taking fat into the equation, there is a woman at work with calves the width of my head, each.

as al says Coogan will win this on proportion. I'm 17" circumference with 17" between knee and ankle, whereas the sarges are
probably 19" circumference with 14" knee to ankle
