Whats it like up there today after all the melting snow?

Don't think it is melting.
Today and tomorrow remain very cold.
Sunday things start to warm-up so expect mud and plently of it.
If ur going to ride it - do it soon.

Plenty of unmelted snow about especially on hills (still light and fluffy). Only clear bits are those that have been walked/ridden on or are in full sun. Roads are clear, perfect combination ?

Snow has melted quite a bit since this morning but still widespread. Trials a mix of snow and clear but starting to get damper by 2:00pm. Currently freezing again so could be a wee bit tricky in the morning!

Have fun.

I rode last ingot and it was great fun. There was plenty of snow and ice but also loads of grip.

Is rideable - just IMO.
Going up hill feels like your riding on sand in terms of the resistance. It snowed a bit last night while riding and added about another inch of snow as a result.
Grip is hit and miss, the compacted snow strangely gripped better than the virgin snow.
geetee - omitted to mention the cold snapped his crank clean off!

He really does mean my crank. It's not a euphemism. I didnt snap one off in the Surrey hills (although that would have definitely been the most un-middle class thing I'd done this week).

Still a surprising amount of snow today but grippy. Ice underneath can be troublesome. Some of the lessor known trails still virgin snow (well they were until I rode down them!)

Back out tomorrow. Hopefully a bit less snow, at least on the long climbs...

Aha so that's where the HFTH Argon went. How are you liking it? I rode it a few times and loved it mostly; it's well balanced, immediate, light and loves going down but it was just a bit too harsh on longer rides for my spine.

Huh, guess it's just a coincidence. You bought it new then; how long have you had it?

Any STWers on the Punchbowl today? I was running the Punchbowl Marathon and saw a couple of guys coming up from Pitch Hill against the flow of quite a lot of runners/walkers at that stage. Anyone from here (I did say hello!).
