Right i've finally decided that i'm going to get a cross check as my new do it all/work bike but i'm a bit stuck on sizing at the moment and there aren't any really local stockists so looking for opinions here.

So some details about me and the bikes i have ridden:

I'm 6 foot tall with a 33" inside leg,
56cm Genesis vapour was just a bit to small
18" On one scandal (26er) was just a bit to small
19.5" On one Scandal (29er) is spot on
Large Planet X SL Pro carbon is spot on
Large Planet X Kaffenback a bit to small and an extra large a bit to big.

Answers below please! Thanks.

Watch out for Surly's funny sizing system too - they measure frames from the centre of the BB to the top of the top tube, unlike everyone else on the planet ๐Ÿ˜‰

6'2" with 34" inside leg,

I had 58cm Pacer and Cross check. Fit was spot on with 110mm stem and long drop bars. Reckon i could have gone to 60cm but happy with the 58.

I'm 6'1" with a 33" inside leg. I own a 58cm Cross Check and it fits just fine. I run a 120mm stem on mine.

Trying to compare Surly's sizes to those used by On-One is guaranteed to give you a headache. My On One Maccinato is an XL and yet feels a bit small but my Uncle John is a large and feels a little too big?!?

get the ETT numbers from the ( drop handled ) bikes you've had before and compare them to those listed on the surly website?
just a thought... ๐Ÿ˜‰

You only need two numbers. Get the seat angles and ETTs for as many of the bikes you've tested as possible, and just compare those with the same for the Cross Check. (You'll need to understand the relationship of seat angle, ETT and reach but that's not hard.) Job done.

Also consider the stupidly short headtube on the crosscheck...
