Alright, it seems as if I have been barking up the wrong tree despite labels to the opposite. My Superstar Switch hubs are obviously not such a thing but they might be Switch Ultras. Does anyone actually know what Novatec model the Ultras might be? 771 have ben suggested but I can't confirm.

Yep, I have Switch Ultras and have used 771/2 bits for them. 791/2s are essentially the same too. Only thing to be careful with is that the rear axle is different for 6 bolt vs CL, and I have had to do some filing on the rear axle 'nut' end to help it fit as one version has a lip. Forget which combination - I have a mix of Novatec 771/2/791/2 from various re-badgers, but you can generally make it work. Also some versions have end caps with small threaded disc to hold them in, but I'm pretty sure the push in versions still work with those hubs. http://www.nguide.eu/ can be your friend.

Cheers. It is the front that is causing the issue actually. Have converted QR to 12mm and the rear conversion seemed to be a fairly standard axle job but my labelled Switch front hub isn't. My descriptions to various people have suggested it may be a 771 but no one could confirm. I'll try that.

Switch ultra IS 881 novatec

i can only work with what I’m given…

if what you meant was you have a switch ultralite then it’s a 771 or whatever they are called

now the reason I ditched taiwan hubs and bought all them machines to make my own is the manufacturers all randomly change stuff without agreeing with me so there’s lots of sub variations and no way of knowing what you actually have….. makes customer support impossible so I gave up on working with them

what was even more annoying was all my competitors at the time literally sending their customers to us so we had to deal with all their complaints emails about spares. This then lead to us doubling the price of our spares as we were loosing money on them supporting/subsidising OUR customers before!

Now you can just buy the spares from the manufacturer but unfortunately you have to deal with their chaotic variants

Dammit! Yes, mine are Switch Ultralites which are indeed 771/2s.

re the Novatec unofficial support thing…I would say Hunt have inherited that mantle… but they seem quite confused themselves so it’s been a bit of a random experience.

Well the badge on the hub says ultra (of course that may have been wrong) and the spacers I have  from a 881 are in no way compatible where as 771s look as if they match.

Photo of my 'Switch Ultra Lite' hubs, well that's what they were described as anyway, possible I suppose that they ran out of stickers for the rear hub, or scammed me and I didn't notice or knew no better. Anyway, I do have some 771/2s which I'll compare them with when I find them.

In the meantime this is the Wiggle/Novatec hub stuff which might fit:

Rear is switch ultra like it says…

882 hub

never did a lite rear. The front lite had smaller bearings so couldn’t be 20mm and was guess what… lighter!

its not a conspiracy, just read what it says on the thing 🤣

As for what spares, it was unclear when we actually worked with novatec. Now it’s over a decade ago so who knows, sorry

I have found novatech to be really helpful with spares and they seem to carry a lot.
