Anyone using Superstar 27.5 Tactic rims? If so, what tyres are you using that don't involve an almighty struggle to get on.

I hoped to put on my 2.3 Maxxis Minion and 2.25 Ardents, but I am struggling to get the first beads on, let alone the second.

Got butcher grid on front, but also used magic Mary trailstar and also super gravity. Got a kenda nevegal pro x on rear. Yes all a tight fit, but nothing too tough. Get some Pedro tyre levers

Yep, tight fit with everything I've tried....had Trail Kings, Ardent, High Roller etc and they're all the same.
In the end I got an Ice Tools tyre lever that resembles a screwdriver (but kinder on the rim) and it'll get anything on and off the rim now.

Thanks for the responses. Think I will try the Ice Tools/pedros tyre lever route before splashing on new tyres that might be no less a tight a fit.

Was originally going to put a Butcher/Purgatory set up on mine but they were way too tight for my liking, and that was before tubeless tape went on.
Was able to try an Ardent without having to buy it first, I was happy with how it went on.
Ended up with a Shorty/Ardent set up and very happy with it.
Needed tyre levers to fit the Specialized tyres but the Maxxis went on by hand and mounted tubeless with a track pump.

Update in case anyone else reads.

Replacing stock Superstar rim tape with Stans made a difference. Got Ardent on with plastic tyre levers. The Minion front was still a pain, and needed halfords metal tyre levers to get on and off after getting blood blisters trying with bendy plastic ones. However, the front 2.3 TR Minion popped up and sealed easily tubeless with just a track pump and so far, 5 hrs seem to be holding air a treat.

Once I get a TR Ardent for the rear, hoping that will pop easily tubeless as well.
