you could go down the sustrans route along the jubilee river. This would lead to Windsor if you turn right and the Windsor viaduct / arches ( train goes along the top)and keep going straight. If the weather is hot it would be a loverly peaceful ride and winsdor is very pleasant.

The route should be listed on the sustrans site.

You're not far from Swinley there mate, few miles perhaps. LOADS of decent riding in Swinley too, bit like Cannock...

Anyway, been trying to get hold of you for days, what you up to? Have texted you, and tried calling, get in touch...

If car, then Swinley or drive to HEnley (better routes in Chilterns).

If no car then hop on Train to Marlow, or Twyford, change for Henley. From both can do a Chilterns route

Shame its not Tuesday as am off and will be going to the chilterns in the morning.

hmmm... done some research, the look out centre at swinley, where i need to buy a £2 day permit, is 11.6 miles from where the bus is being serviced. as it's got a dedicated "expert" mtb area and i've got a day to kill, it'll probably be worth the rideout, might even be cheeky and ask if the garage will drop me off.

anyone ridden the "expert" mtb area? what's it like?

Swinley is well worth it, but see if you can find someone to show you around. It's quite like Cannock, but without the waymarked trails if you get me. ie. Lots of good riding, but you kind've have to be with someone that knows where to find it.
