Just got back from one of my local jaunts with my partner, utterly lovely out this morning with a fresh feeling about it,I adore this time of year, such a joy to be in this sport too! wonderful 8)
where has the STW massive been today i wonder?
Still confined to roadbike, Went out on old steel Peugoet for quick 30miles. I miss my cabon forks and could do with more than an 11-20 cassette out back!
Been out on the Isle of Man coastal path today.
Managed to get safely through a section that's had me 'gorse surfing' on the previous two attempts 🙂
Beautiful sunshine, good company and amazing views across a flat, shimmering sea to the north-west coast of the UK, North Wales and Ireland.
Did a ride with a couple of mates up on the moors nr Edmundbyers. Forecast was for sun, instead we had snow, hail and 30mph winds.
The hail was mad at one point going downhill into a 30mph headwind driving it into our faces. I was the only one to remember a Buff, a mate offered me £20 for it at that point.
The worst of the snow started as we reached Parkhead cafe so we stopped there in the warm for tea and hot beef rolls whilst looking out of the window at the crazy weather.
Still enjoyed it though. Typically we got home to find sunshine and blue skies.
Couple of hours around Rivington in glorious sunshine after watching the F1. No photos today, just wanted to pedal 🙂

bjj.andy.w - What stunning pictures! Lovely..
Me too Simon. Here is my effort. http://app.strava.com/rides/6772874
A great ride doing some new bits (for me) linking up Winter Hill & Abbey Village.
Started at 6:30 this morning for a South Downs jaunt. 58 MTB rigid singlespeed miles later and I have a blister on my hand but very happy! Lovely day but cooooolllllddddd!! Brrrrrr
A proper solo Mendip ride on my new blingy HT (Sovereign) to see what it can do. I've been having a few mental issues riding it because it's so different to other bikes I've ridden, but today I started to feel I was "getting it". Still needs a couple of tweaks to the setup.
Mainly trails around Winscombe Down and Axbridge Down - all the climbs were grippy doable and the singletrack was uber fast. At one point the bike seemed to want to launch us down the hill and then turned into a grumpy sliding, kicking bronco as I braked before I hit rocks and got bounced into orbit!
Lovely sunshine, a brisk northerly wind and meadow flowers budding everywhere. Shame I did not stop to get pics.
oh, 3 chinooks flew over whilst we were in the forest, awesome sound!
Only did 11 miles local, mind you it did involve 1001 ft of climbing!!
Midlands round XC race round 3. **** me, it was a tough circuit.
Profile here. http://www.xcracer.com/MXC3-2012-PREVIEW.html
Nothin as nice as those pics but went out on the SouthDowns around chalton and Goodwood. Nice day for it but had a hell of a sidewinder at times. Was leanin into the wind slightly and had the embarrassing stumble when the wind died down
Did a nice local favourite ride. 19 miles with 2400 feet elevation change. Legs felt like fudge for most of it and the best downhill was wrecked by two horse riders, oh well! Weather was ace, if a little nippy and had a deer run along beside me for 20 seconds or so in the woods near home.

100k road ride loop from Bradley Stoke to Stroud and back, fairly hilly with a tough and cold headwind on the way out but at least the sun was mostly out.
40 mile road ride with 4000ft of climbing across dartmoor. Was a bit chilly up at Princetown and felt distinctly underdressed.
Tailwind. 15mph uphill. on a loaded singlespeed. all good
Singletrack at Woburn today. Was totally mint. Trails dry and my new bike flies. Just don't want to go to work tomorrow and head out again.
Those pics of coniston are class Andy!
I managed a fairly steady 60miles today in the lovely sunshine. But I still wore my leg warmers - Got caught out yesterday going up Kirkstone, it started ****ing snowing!
WilleJ .- Gibbet Hill ? or am I off target.

Yup, well spotted. The view from the Temple of the Four Winds to be precise.
100miler on roady with two friends.
2500metre of climbing.
Caerphilly-Bwlch-Rhigos-Penderyn-Brecon-Llangynidr ..and back.
Gentle ride, so no Strava KOMs on the big climbs ...couldnt resist a 2mile sprint finish as I came back home ...managed to take the KOM!! Result..
33 Miles and 4000ft of climbing all over the Stretton Hills, hard work but a really nice day, could have done with a little less of a headwind on the return leg.

Got in the car this morning to drive to a local 10K, and pulled over a the bottom of the lane to let a cyclist through who was clearly gunning it.
Chuckled to myself that he must be after the strava segment.
Just looked, and who'd have guessed! a new KOM for that segment 😀
Thankfully it looked like he'd run out of puff for the one I had on the other side of the hill.
100 solo miles. Heading North wasn't fun in the wind 😆

Really nice weather apart from that though! Still quite cold for the time of year, but no rain!

swoon
Got the train to Bristol with some mates, rode up to Ashton, was about to start Nova and my rear shock just sagged away. Got off and had a look, found the cause of annoying noise that had been bugging me for a few rides. Seat tube cracked almost in half. -_- So a pretty poor Sunday ride here.
38 miles North Downs loop, starting at Box Hill, over to Leith, Millpond Copse, Holmbury and back to Box Hill. Lovely day, a chilli breeze at the top of Leith and a bit of rain at the end.
40 miles at Afan for us, hadn't planned that many but we missed the connection to the top of the Skyline descent..., and had to wander a bit to get back across. Hard on top of a 5.30am start.
But top weather, except for the snow flurries later afternoon.
27 miles and 3000ft of climbing (according to Endomondo so could have been 12) around Haldon - beautiful but pretty chilly in spots.
No deer or buzzards today but did chat to a chap with San Andreas and the new cafe manager seem very nice. All in all, a good day, especially as it also meant I avoided the <shudder> mother in the law </shudder>.
Nipped out for a quick evening bimble around Lustleigh Cleave.. first time out on the 'real bike' for ferlippin' ages.. maybe even the first time this year.. It's a bit blimmin' Owly up there at night for my liking though.. I managed to get quite spooked..
16 miles, 1574ft of climbing and a mega close shave OTB faceplant on the S bends at the bottom of bridge too far.. not the hairiest descent in the world ever but steep, loose, twisty, rooty and rocky and one of my favourites.. A good test of bike handling and reactions with a couple of places too steep and loose to be in full control..
It was a bit of wake up call.. I had to sit down for 10 minutes after to ward off the dizziness and had just told myself seconds before the crash that I was risking a bit much attempting the descent alone at dusk..
No serious damage but a lesson learned.. I should have walked it under the circumstances..
Loving the new sweary northerner line down from the bridleway to Hisley bridge too.. no way I was attempting that tonight though.. I didn't fancy the inevitable dip in the drink at the end.. 😀
My ride today was just a 200 metre test ride up the road and back to try out the new reverb. Damn night shifts!
@jruk, 27 miles around Haldon sounds like a lot. Last time i did that far was including the ride up from Dawlish or Exeter. Mind you, that was also with Endomondo so who knows how far i really went.
@Yunki, good to see you're out and about. I've not seen anywhere near enough of eastern Dartmoor yet this year but that will soon change hopefully
I took my Kona Unit on a loop of the IOM.
All on the road, but what a fantastic day; gorgeous weather and a spot of lunch on Pt Erin beach.
Face like a boiled lobster today though!!!
2 hour ride around Ashridge Forest, absolutely beautiful morning, dry hard ground made it one of the best rides I've had for ages.
Had an 80km road ride planned but cut it short as there was a storm rolling in with pretty high winds and it's not good to be caught on the top of the hills around here in that sort of weather (no shelter at all, just flat fields). 3 cat 4 climbs, fastest descending speed I've ever had and a realisation that sometimes when the road says "Route Baree" it really does mean the road is actually closed (I had 2km of rocks to ride on as they're re-laying the road) and trying to get through it on skinny road tyres is not really that much fun.
