It's been at least 2 weeks since the last watch thread, so in true STW form I thought I'd start another.

I'm pretty much sold on one of these for £73.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-Edifice-EF-540D-1AVEF-Chronograph-Bracelet/dp/B002LAS0MW/ref=sr_1_1?s=watch&ie=UTF8&qid=1362762266&sr=1-1

Is there anything else out there that's similar, that looks as nice (subjective, I know), and that I should consider?

I'd take a classic Seiko 5 over a Casio that wanted to be a Breitling any day of the week....

For a sub £100 watch I think you will do well to beat a Casio SNK 809. They're about £55 on Amazon, add £20 for a good leather strap (tan looks great, you need an 18mm) and you will have a really nice, slightly different from the norm watch. It is small (37mm) though, the SNZG15J1 is similar but a bit bigger (42mm) and a bit more expensive (£90 ish) if you want a larger face.

I would say both are "nicer" than the one you linked to but then my taste may be different to yours!

425 reduced to 86?! I pity anyone who paid 425 for that Seiko, let alone 86

Having said that I don't have any better suggestions so will be watching this thread as my fossil watch has got a condensation problem...

imnotamused, don't knok Seiko so quickly, they make some really good low end watches and actually, some of the high end ones are really quite clever from a watch technology perspective.

bam74, that is exactly the one I had in mind, great watch for the money that is.

It is that, lovely watch and keeps good time for an automatic. Have a couple of leather straps for it, one brown and one black which make it look a lot more expensive than it is.

That Seiko SNK is nice, but it's not the style I want. Definitely after a bracelet style watch, pretty much like a Citizen Skyhawk, but without the price tag.

Garmin swim? Measures laps when you swim, tells time. Result.

Fasthaggis, you have just cost me £40. I don't need a portable sundial, what possible use have I got for it? Yet still, I have one coming to me in 3-5 working days. Thanks I think!

I've had a Seiko for 19 years. It recently went through the washing machine and still works. Got a new glass fitted too so it looks good as new. Solid stuff!

I've got an Edifice Waveceptor similar to the one you posted and can't really fault it at all, nice watch, nice features and don't see too many about. I've got this one, had it a few years:

If not that and you like Casios, I got one of these the other day for less than £100, really good:

Similar to the SNK809 above but larger case, 41mm vs 37

I've been toying with the idea of one of these. I have used their alarm clock for 20 years and like the design which these refer back to.
