Nice work mate, glad you missed my couple of offs! 😀
You missed me sneaking the cake into my mouth then mugging everyone for their sweets 8)
Good work Chris. Think Sams a bit harsh with the two finger salute though, I would of used both hands!! 😉
Thanks for sorting it all out too. Had a great time out.
nice one chris. internet is a bit poor at the moment so it was all a bit juddery. my fault not yours though. missed me down jacobs 🙁
i did get you on Jacob's, but you look knackered and put a foot down!
Can send it if you like so you can see
I believe I'm passing at about 3:55, just because you said you could/would on the vimeo description, is there nay chance I could somehow see a non-cut up (I appreciate it makes it better like that in the full video) version?
Don't feel you have to though
Whats the idea for the next one then? Cut gate? it was doable early april last year so perhaps? ..
I'd like to throw in Hollinsclough/3 shires head or stanage/blackamoor/totley moor as slightly different suggestions
I was thinking cut gate. Maybe March 27th. Can't do 28th now.
3.55 you say......hang on
I know a very nice Blacka/Houndkirk/Totley/Sheffield route though
🙂
Cut gate- starting from the other side (not the res)? IM IN!
i did get you on Jacob's, but you look knackered and put a foot down!
fair enough. could you? that'd be great 🙂 my email is in my profile.
cut gate from langsett? And back?
Cutgate although one of my fave rides might be a bit grim unless we get a good dry spell.
My vote would be for a Redmires start > Stanage Pole & Plantation > Lady Canning > Blacka > Totley Moor > Houndkirk ride as I think most bits hold up well.
bit of road mileage in that but it's a good start. Will start thinking of a loop. That isn't featured in the latest mag!
😉
james, sam, YGM
4.38 - that's downhill excitement right there people! Looks pretty quick too 8) That last shot is pretty good to say it was a complete accident - I had no idea the camera was there. But how did you manage to make the top of Jacob's look flat?!
Redmires start > Stanage Pole & Plantation > Lady Canning > Blacka > Totley Moor > Houndkirk
This could be good as my back door ride is houndkirk/lc/blacka but I never take it out as far as Stanage
i made it look flat by having no viewfinder!
Maybe we should club in for a decent camera for you next time
Maybe we should club him like a Seal more like! 😆
There's probably about enough of him to make a nice handbag for you[s]r missus[/s]
Yeah but I'd keep falling off [s]his shoulder[/s]
Mmm, not like me to miss a photo opportunity. I think I only saw myself once, although there was a familiar pair of 661 knee pads towards the end (still attached to knees might I add). Granted I did keep my head down and keep going on the last BIIGGG climb. I thought if I stopped I might not get going again...damn cold at the top tho'
Good job Chris 🙂 Cheers
dan you'll be in the rushes somewhere - I'll have a look for the bright orange top!
I dont get it. In some shots I'm wearing great leggings under shorts then in other shots the leggings vanish...what gives? 😉
I'll have a look for the bright orange top!
that was only for the chilly downhills. Look out for the upside down forks 🙂
who is it who falls off at the right at the back of shot in the middle at about 5.15?
funnily enough Hora, you lose your specs too......
ive just ordered one of those ebay helmet cams so ill bring it along if i can make the next one.
as an aside, my posts keep disappearing from this thread. weird!
slowrider, im about to order one aswell 😀
good lad, they look alright dont they? now we just someome fast to follow down the hills...
yehh. or we could just give the camera to someone fast and claim it as our own?
count me in for that one fallguy.
nice vid again pook. still managed to get my best side again
Nice work there Pook 😀
good edit chris, captures the feel of the day well
"Blacka/Houndkirk/Totley/Sheffield route"
Is it easy to add the Stanage Edge descent into it?
"Cut gate- starting from the other side (not the res"
There are reseviors at both ends of cut gate?
I prefer starting at the Langsett end, although you have to add on for eg Derwent Edge and Gores Farm to make it worthwhile going further down the valley than slippery stones/the packhorse bridge
I started at Fairholmes (following the VGraphic guide). I really didnt enjoy riding along the res to get to the 'action' then on the return. Tedious.
There are reseviors at both ends of cut gate?
Errr, yes!
Langsett at the north end, Derwent at the South....
Any chance of having the video on Youtube or something as I can't get to see it on Vimeo - won't work on iPhone or work PC. 🙁
i reckon we wsill murder cut gate if a group as big as the last ride turn up and its remotely damp. might be best saved for later in the year?
the blacka etc route sounds interesting, not ridden there before.
ive got an idea for a route, just struggling to find a legal final descent...
i reckon we wsill murder cut gate if a group as big as the last ride turn up and its remotely damp. might be best saved for later in the year?
How many people ride it on any average weekend? 🙄
Cut Gate is one of my fave rides, but I tend to steer clear when its been wet for weeks. whenever I do cut gate in the colder months of the year only ever see 2 or 3 groups at most, it will be cut up and boggy on the top sections whether we ride it or not, its just so much better in the dry, the drop down to North America is sublime when its had a few weeks to dry out
Pook - Looked like a fun day out, see what you mean about that snowdrift! No footage of a certain drop off? 😆
Just planning a route eith my local knowledge...
What drop off haddock? Your puncture one? Different route this time!
Anyone know what the deal is with the new restricted access on the bw that runs along the 625 just above blacka plantation?
I've got something in mind that links stanage, blacka, houndkirk and totley. That drop down stanage is key!
Anyone?
not ridden that BW since October, so can't help 🙁
"Cut gate- starting from the other side (not the res"

Thats what I was trying to say, questioning hora saying saying the non-resevior side
On re-reading what I wrote though (the question mark) it does read as if I didn't know there were
"That drop down stanage is key!"
the descent on the cobbles/pavement stone through the plantation is one of my favourites, trying not to veer off the stones can be a real challenge, especially nearer the bottom
In ST issue 55, I think Cy mentioned it was a bridleway in his bit of the route guide. Not sure though, a quick re-read may show I've misinterpretted something somewhere
so we're saving the White Peak for dryer, warmer weather then?
im so over stanage descent, distinctly 'tame' imo 8)
I was up there a few weeks back and it said permission has been pulled. Don't know why though
