OK, managed it. Windows didn't recognise it. I had to convert to .gpx to use it.

Thanks for the write up & pics Lowey. I buggered off on my own at the top of Iron Keld/Arnside Intake. Hands and feet getting a bit cold, hadn't brought much fodder and wanted to get some riding in before I had to meet up with my lift home at 3pm. Did a similar ride to the rest of you in the end with an extra bit round the back of Bays Brown farm, towards Dungeon Gylll. Loughrigg was a bit busier at 2.45pm. Managed to pinch flat whilst going wide to avoid hitting someones mutt.

Anyway, nice day, good company and some new trails to remember for next time. A bit too much stop/starting for an impatient bugger like me but I don't envy trying to herd such a big group, so well done to the guides/organisers.

Dairy of an inept mountain biker and Real Ale drinker.

and why does real ale gets caps but not mountain biking ? Does that reflect your priorities ?

Damn straight.

Joking apart though, I;m not good with my words. If it wasnt for spell and grammer checking nobody would ever be able to read anything I wrote. Dyslexia can be a real pain in the arse, even though mine is relatively mild.

I was just fixing a flattie when the 2 young lads caught up, and the one who wasn't Tom complained that he'd had a mechanical and no one had stopped, so there'd been no one to show them the way. I had passed him, and I told him my unkind feeling had been that anyone whose bike was so ill prepared that they had a mechanical within a mile of the start must be a clueless numpty-boy. I apologised, but where does that leave you ?

๐Ÿ˜€ I'd agree that you are a numpty turning up with a bike which doesn't work, especially with such a large group. I certainly wasn't complaining about being left behind. In my defense it was working fine the day before when I took it round the block to make sure all was OK :?. Ho hum.

Thanks Gav for a great day's riding. Good to find some new trails!
Enjoyed meeting some off here.

biggest dissappointment of the day was the absence of the taut-thighed FoxyChick, though her toy boy Paul did attend

Nice to meet you too sfb! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yeah, where was ya Danny? I took it as read you'd be there!

I know my limits, just not been riding enough for such a distance at the moment and didn't want to be the one at the back holding everyone up ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Will be getting a few decent rides in over the next few weeks so hopefully see you at the next one ๐Ÿ™‚

for some reason I was knackered by 11 miles but I'd never have lived down dropping out so I just had to carry on :o) The pace was relaxed!

Great pics Simon - must stop putting the grey highlights in my beard now . . . ๐Ÿ˜†

Danny - you keep saying 'next time' - just come - Ton needs someone to talk to at the back ๐Ÿ˜†

Dave it's called "distinguished" ๐Ÿ™‚

seriously Danny, it's no good moaning about not being fit enough afterwards - you did well in Grizedale last year and this ride was a similar level of difficulty.

Excellent photo's Simon as always... in terms of the naming, I'm on the blue/white on-one heading down the slatey slope.

Leg's are just about recovered now too ๐Ÿ˜•

Cheers

I apologise to those I didn't name - I think there's a limit to the number of new names you can learn in one go, so I relied on those who introduced themselves, or who I overheard being named ๐Ÿ™‚ You can add a comment to a photo of yourself (or anyone else for that matter)
