[Closed] Stupid question about disc brake bleeding

I have a set of 2012 XT brakes and the front is fine but the rear was firm but had a bite point much nearer the bars, almost touching.

I have bled them tweice today as per shimano's instructions but nothing changed. I then remembered that if you take the wheel out and press the lever fully in a couple of times they now seem fine.

My question is, will this be ok, as I am heading out for a two day trip next week and the last thing I want is the brakes going halfway round the route!!

Cheers ๐Ÿ˜€

You'll be fine - I had similar (albeit with different brakes). Turned out the pistons can stick to the seals, then keep returning to a position too deep onto the caliper, which gives you the longer lever travel. You've corrected that by breaking the stiction when you took the wheel out. (all learned from asking a similar question on here!)

you should probably top up the reservoir with fluid, now, but you could get away without...

Did you have the pads out and bleed block in when you bled them?
