The seatpost on my daughters bike will not move up or down but with some force it will move side to side. Has anyone got my tips to help me out?

Remove the BB. Turn bike upside down and add penetrating oil to the seatpost via the hole in the top of the BB shell. Leave for 48hrs or so. Put seatpost in a vice and twist the bike frame rather than the post.

Good luck!

Not properly stuck then ๐Ÿ˜‰

Agree with the above, few days of penetrating oil should see it right.

Apply heat from a hot air gun to the seat tube and twist and pull gently.

Make a ring of plasticine round seat tube and fill with penetrating oil, plus gas or similar, leave overnight.

If it moves then just get a grip on it with something like a vice (or molegrips, plumbers pliers) twist and pull. Oil will help, it is probably just corroded and so stiff.

Don't bother with anything other than a decent penetrating oil.
Plusgas or Duckoil (if you can get hold of it).

WD40, GT85 etc aren't penetrating oils and are useless in comparison.
