[Closed] Stripping Superstar Nano pedals

Clearly I'm being a bit slow this morning. One of my Superstar Nano tech flats is "gritty" when spinning so I thought I'd strip it and see if a bit of a clean and more grease would solve the problem. Removed pedal, took outside end cap off and then the inside threaded bit that appears to hold the spindle and bearings in place. Now I have a spindle that has a few mm of play, and what looks like some cartridge bearings that I can't get too.

I thought I'd be able to remove the entire spindle now but it won't budge. Do I just need to hit it harder, or is there something I'm missing?

Huh, my receipt says I have a Nano Tech Flat pedal, but the insides are different. Maybe they changed the pedals since 2012...

The nanos do vary inside but (afaik) they're all the same logic, just slightly different axles, bushings etc.

Confirmed: my insides were slightly different but the mystery smooth thing inside turned out to be a 6mm nut as the video said. Now the happy owner of a stripped and regreased pedal.

I can find a socket that will go inside to undo the bolts. Silly question but is it a special?

I think it's a 9mm and just needs to be skinny enough to fit inside the pedal body. Not special as such but different makes vary

You need a pretty thinwall socket- mine is out of one of an orrible cheapo rolson toolkit I have, because none of my nice stuff'll fit.

Mine did that first ride. Only on one side, the side where a left handed thread would probably be more appropriate. It's not happened again since I put it back together
