In my ham-fisted way i've got a stripped bolt on Sram direct mount chain ring.
I could helicoil it, but seems expensive as the sets are about £25, for fixing one bolt.
Drill and tap it to a slightly bigger size and find a bolt that holds the chain rung on?
Will I die?

They are just m5 bolts aren't they? Nothing special. You can get a helicoil set for around a fiver on eBay.
