Last month I ditched the Elixir brakes that came on my Alpine160 in favour of a set of M4s (fed up of bleeding them every time i changed the pads). I kept the avid rotors on the bike.

As the front pads wore I started to get a strange vibration through the forks under braking. I just removed the pads to find that the pads have worn evenly apart from a 2mm strip around the outer of the pad surface that is completely unworn.

I had to use a hope 203mm mount with the new front calliper as the M4 doesn't fit on an Avid mount I've noticed that avid rotors come in 200mm but Hope in 203mm. Is this the likely cause of the strange pad wear (and vibration)?

Anyone else experienced this before I splash the cash on some hope rotors?

I'd have thought so ๐Ÿ™‚

Does the pad cover or overlap the rotor? Sounds like the rotor is too narrow on the braking surface. The new hope ones are a bit deeper than they used to be and some others. Hope rotors are nice though, especially when you match up the hubs.
