Just watched this vid, the drop at 24seconds makes any drop of less than 6ft look like childs play!

looks fun
Would you do that drop tony and if so, would it be no probs or would you have to look at it a bit, gulp and go for it. just wondering how unhinged you are. I know you have a rep to uphold but be honest. i wouldn't do the SMALL one just to be clear.
very impressive
yeah why not? flat ladder to a tranny.
yeah why not? flat ladder to a tranny.
I'd rather be bummed by a tranny than ride off that 😀
ok so pretty unhinged, respect. My balls have long since shriveled. Which foot down 😉
Barry Bethel 🙂 🙂 🙂
just push off it as always. pedals level, heals down of course
Overbiked tbh - I've done drops like that on a cross bike.
big hairy cantaloupe sized balls 0_0
technique is always the same you just need the confidence/balls to do it!
Yawn.
Eddie fiola said it best...
Tricks r 4 kids
Haha right, I was in Chatel during that comp and even the pro's were bricking it on that drop, not one of them tricked it at all. There isn't ANYONE on this forum who would even attempt it.
That drop looked friggin huge from the lift (half a mile away) I couldnt even muster the courage to do the Chatel road gap.
That is some crazy sh!t
Love watching it but would never ride it.
much prefer footage of natural drops to stuff made of wood, cool though
just push off it as always
Hmm. So push the bike forwards, and that's all you need to do?
I've been tucking the bike under me by bending my legs.. I guess that has a similar effect.
Felt queesy watching some of that madness!!
Huge Bollox for that 1
I've skiied off that huck and all of that face.....
It's easy. Roll of end, hit the landing, phone an ambulance. Easy.
Or pre book the ambulance
Pfft. Thats just being pessimistic.
my mums a nurse she would give the paracetamol lecture..apres said drop

You know that much about everyone on this forum?
How high would you say it is? 30ft?
I really enjoyed that, thanks very much for posting.
heh that course gets more nuts every year. I've done a few large (~15') drops in my time but nothing like that. There is more to it than simple balls though - you're in the air for longer, which means the slightest forwards or backwards rotation will be amplified. In addition, the landing is way harder, and normally steeper to take the impact, which means its way easy to go over the bars. Not for me.
The chatel road gap is loads of fun though
I love the way there's a big bit of cheese on offer 🙂
I was there on the Sunday of the comp and I think 4 or maybe 5 of the top Freeride pros out of the entire field attempted the biggie. And only cos Brandon Semenuk went off it first. It was way higher than that video made it seem -
The fact there was a bermed turn at the bottom followed by a big big jump was making them all scratch their heads a bit not to mention fill their jockeys...
yeah 30ft
Only part i'd happily have a go on comes up at about 2.45
mentalists. that is so far removed from anything I can or will do on a bike.
A sport for future quadraplegiacs with delusions of immortality.
Stick a coping stone at the end of the ladder and I bet you'd think twice 🙂
I reckon somewhere in my brain are the skills to do some of those things. I just don't have ahything like the cojones.
Not one part of me wishes I could do that. The risk-reward ratio is much too loaded on the "trip to hospital" side.
I'm entirely with you there molgrips.
Yeah I'm dreaming about it, I get the heebies on a 2ft drop..
Must be a crazy rush.
But imagine the feeling of dread when you realise you've got that drop wrong...

I thought it was a Morrison's pizza. I like your prize better.
Wonder if that kid on the push-along bike can do that yet..
Ace! I like the fact there were some tumbles on stuff "mortals" might attempt as well as the parp-inducing drops and jumps
Do you measure those ladder drops as the height of the ladder or to "touchdown"? If the latter I have done 6 feet. Yay! 😀
Wonder if that kid on the push-along bike can do that yet..
Give him a couple more months
