I keep an eye on ebay for bike stuff and one seller always has bit's, good stuff all the time as well: Nice forks, XT Drivetrain, Hope brakes, Mavic wheels etc. Lots of bit all the time.
Like they are always breaking high end bikes but they never ever have the frames to sell.
I've looked at their feedback and they also never buy any bike bits, they just sell them. I've never bought off them but and I have no evidence but what can you do to make sure the bits are legit?? (or find out if they are not)
or is apathy the best policy?

Possible but they might simply be running a legit business part-time.
I know at least one person who sells an awful lot of top end kit, pretty much exacly as you describe, and it's all perfectly legit.

And they might possibly buy complete bikes and parts on one account, and sell on another.

Ebay don't give a flying ****. I spotted a really dodgy auction/seller/s the other day, I reported it and apart from an autoreply they did nothing, and I expect somebody is £270 lighter because of it.

Edit: I'm sure if you say I'll come and pick it up the item would mysteriously be sold already. The first seller sold some brand new Lyriks the same day for £210 as well.
The plug socket's next to those boxxers are North American.
One would suggest that this guy doesn't have any boxxers for sale and he's using a random google pic or something.

It makes you wonder though who buys from these people, common sense is lacking I think and people turn a blind eye to the tale tell signs just to get a bargain!

you say that but a friend of a friend bought a blackberry in the street for £30 when approached by someone. went and bought a charger - wouldn't turn on. takes it back to the phone shop (where he got the charger) to be told it was an empty casing! 😯

thom, a classic scam is people buying laptops from somone in the street/from back of a van, only to find theyve been scammed, the scammer has pulled a switch and theyve bought a box containing a bottle of mineral water. Similar incident just a week or so ago in my town where a guy thought he was buying an I-phone from a bloke in the street.
They then have the nerve to report it to the police and it gets recorded/investigated as a fraud- as far as I'm concerned the "victim" should be nicked for attempting to handle stolen goods.
