Hi,
recently moved down to Storrington and have heard good things about Steyning.
Just wondered if any locals could point me in the right direction to start from?
Cheers in advance!
There are a few car parks and lots of on street parking in Steyning but To be honest you could just start in Storrington:
Nice straightforward ride up on to the SDW from Storrington either on road or off, cross the A24 at Washinton either by the bridge or the road itself, up to chanctonbury and then follow it over to the DH track above Storrington.
IMO Whiteways and Houghton forest (up on the other side of the Arun Valley from Amberley) is better though with a lot more single track,
South Downs Bikes in Storrington do club rides in the area so might be worth popping in to say hi.
South Downs Bikes appear to have regular rides, I'd suggest joining them. They sound good and I keep meaning to tag along sometime.
and Steyning has some nicely made downhill runs (with a bastard of a climb back up) but there is much, much more riding in the area than that.
guess i shall just head over and follow my nose! might be a tad over biked at the moment, or under biked, depending on what i take!!
Come out with us on a tuesday evening if you fancy it?
We meet at the High Salvington Shops car park (near the wind mill...google it)
We ride all over the place - Steyning, Storrington, Whiteways etc etc..
PM me if interested - i can't make this tues, but could next.

Cheers DrP, i'll drop you a line next week, i can't do Tuesday either this coming week!
Coolio...
As long as you don't bring a DH bike, you'll be fine...
I'll be on the SS or 29er HT...or maybe the CX bike if I'm feeling perverse...

Interested in this myself as in Angmering and finding non trench like conditions gets harder this time of year.
....seemed pretty much non trench like in Angmering Park on Wednesday night, after this weekend it may be a bit more muddy though ๐
I could bring the cross bike out as well....
Wind is blowing a hoolie today, should dry it all up nicely.
I miss riding on the South Downs. Crawley is a bloody no mans land for mtb'ers unless you want to get in your car and drive for 30 mins!
