[Closed] steerer into stem amount concern?

i have my eyes on some forks but the steerer is a few mill short of what i'd really like, the steerer is carbon, the stem is carbon and the stem has one centre bolt to hold it to the steerer, the new forks' steerer would only come to level with the centre of that bolt.

I think I am a sensible kind of chap and kind of know the answer here - head over heart rather than head over heels when it doesn't hold and I go weeeeeeeeeeeee!!

confirmation of my thoughts required still though

Couldn't you get one of those steerer extensions if you've your heart set on the forks.
