[#11166056]

I share this with you as I hope that I can find someone as equally as excited as I am...my wife’s reaction when I talk about this goes something like “hmmmmm LOVELY, darling...” as sardonic as imaginable; maybe it’s the fact that when Emeka (the friendly delivery man) drops off a star nut setting tool, I proceed to scream whilst ravaging the package open.

This has come from putting a dent in my beloved Cotic Bfe26 (#26ISdead) and has led to pulling the trigger and getting a new 27.5 build. I was first looking for a new frame to reuse all my 26 gear but the general advice was that the experience would be somewhat compromised. F#%K ME, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY NEW STANDARDS SINCE JUST 4 YEARS AGO!!! ANYWAY,I was torn between the new Cotic Soul and Stanton Slackline 853. In the end I decided on the Slackline as I got the impression it would handle the jumps and drops a bit better than the Soul, yet still had some springiness to it. The new bfe just seemed a bit too heavy and slack on paper...

Build will be:

Slackline 853 18” in British Racing Green
Rockshox Pike Ultimate 140mm 37mm offset
Custom Stans Flow/Hope Pro4/CX ray spokes boost
Schwalbe ADDIX - Magic Mary 2.35 front / Nobby Nic 2.35 rear
Shimano 12 Speed SLX chainset
Shimano XT brakes (from old bike)
Thomson elite post
Renthal Fatbar carbon/apex cockpit
Nuke proof electron pedals (6 years old and still going strong!)
Hope headset

I just need to work out how to insert pictures. A few of the bits have arrived already

Here's some more inspiration for you.I've had mine since launch which is coming up to four years now. I've really enjoyed my time with it. I ride it more than my full suss.

Wheels have turned up. Paul from PT Cycles made these up for me. He managed to convince me to upgrade the spokes to CX Ray (they are flat rather than round in cross section). Looking lovely!

Surprised you're not going for a dropper post on such a nice build. Lots of good, not-that-pricy ones about, like BrandX or OneUp

I'd really like a bike for quick local rides when I can't be bothered to drag out the enduro-donkey and a Slackline is top of the list. Red ones look fast.

Unfortunately I don't have a single spare component that would fit one so it would be an expensive undertaking.

Get some pictures up. Upload them to Pinkbike and post the links.

Honourablegeorge - I have thought about a dropper but pretty keen on on the Bikeyoke Divine. Are the brand x or one up just as good?

Forks have turned up now so will get some pics!

The guys at Stanton have said that they are hoping to get my frame to me by the end of the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have two Bikeyoke Revives, which are brilliant, just really smooth, reliable and well made. Not tried a Divine, but reviews suggest they're not far off the Revive.

BrandX and OneUp are internally almost the same post, but the OneUp has a few extra refinements, they're both excellent value, lots of folks raving about the OneUp, and it's got a low stakc height that means you might get a longer travel OneUp to fit where other brands might not.

You HAVE to put a dropper on a bike like this. The BikeYoke ones are lovely - really top quality and I hope their robust build and simple/minimal servicing requirements mean that the two I have will end up seeming far less expensive over their lifespan.

I have a 185mm Revive and a 185mm ReviveMax (the 34.9mm version), got them both in 2018. I guess they’ve done about 2500 miles between them, no servicing needed yet.

Trumpton-The bike is a nicely balanced all rounder,I see mine as Swiss Army Knife of a bike.I think if you can it will. It's no specialist-but it's fun all the same.
It's strong too, mines survived getting broadsided and knocked across a junction by a car and being ridden to an instant stop straight into a substantial fallen tree .Both events seemed to hurt the rider more than the bike .....but luckily not too badly.

Yes, I chose the Slackline over the Switchback as I felt like it would be better for long days in the saddle but still be a lot of fun when heading to various bike parks.

Lowey - don’t worry, I’ll get some pics up as soon as the frame gets here! Great to hear someone else went for the British Racing Green. It was hard to find any images on the net of this colour so I guess it’s less popular?

Pretty much complete! Somehow managed to get the cassette on wonky (I think by over tightening!) So will take cassette off tomorrow to inspect ant damages...

Probably the best one that shows the colour. It's actually a very difficult colour to photograph. In the flesh it's much more metallic/sparkling.

I think I have tightened the cassette too much that it has compressed part of the freehub only on one side..

I went for black with a gold heritage wrap for mine, X Fusion McQueens to give me the plus option, and I've got some wider rims too, but I like it on the Fulcrum, feels mega zingy and fun.

Built it up using some parts I had, and some new bits, and I'm really happy with it.
