[#11165881]

I have has issues with my lockring tool slipping. Have done a bit of googling and SRAM recommends a tool with splines 7 - 8mm long - mine are 6mm

anyone recommend a good replacement with the 7 - 8mm splines?

thanks

Not sure if this will help but I had a problem with the tool fouling on the hub endcap as it tightened. Solution was to pop the endcap off before tightening!

Yep, Hope advise on removing the end cap before tightening the cassette on some hubs.

Yes I know about hope end caps, but this is a dt swiss hub and you have to take the cassette off to get the end cap off, so I deffo need a tool with deeper splines
Mine is ancient so probably any modern ones will work

I have sliverline one that has always worked well. I think it came from eBay.

Just been through the same with my old Shimano tool and a set of Hope Pro2 EVOs. In the end I bought one of these off CRC and it was perfect:

I find the biggest issue with the XD cassette removal is the cassette itself. Where the tool fits into the cassette there is a castle battlement style silver band the tool fits into. This is only about 5mm deep so no matter how long the tool splines are they will only go in so far anyway.

I have had one Sram XD cassette where the tool has been able to be fully inserted. Maybe it was not a GX version and that is the difference.

Anyone else found this??

+1 for the Park Tools one listed above - the central bit helps stop it rocking and disengaging the splines.

Oh, and don't forget to grease the threads so it's easier to get off in the first place.
