Would it be fine to swap out the tensile steel bolts on my SLX adapters and calipers for A2 stainless m6x18mm socket bolts?

I know stainless isn't as strong, but maybe it's strong enough?

Motive for doing this would be less potentially rusty parts. Seeing as stems can have stainless bolts, it figures in assumption that brake assemblies could too?

Not as highly loaded, but I've been running A4 stainless bolts in this application on my BB7 road calipers. They've been absolutely fine, and the bolts don't corrode per se..... but do cover the threads liberally with grease/anti-seize as the aluminium caliper carrier does fur up at the bolt threads over time, I'm guessing from galvanic corrosion.

Cheers for that, I was going to put a blob of loctite on them. I'm wondering if the grease and loctite can work together as they are opposite in their function?

TBH, I've not bother with loctite - the bolts are so big with so much engaged thread (relatively) that I can do them up, greased, murder tight and the thread won't strip/bolt won't break and they stay there completely untouched for years at a time. Up to you - either or, rather than nothing, I would say.
