as they started on different seats!

LOL! Plus, I believe the riders in the photo are friends of the new owner taking it on its first outing. Not sure if they come on STW but I'll try and let the owner know the addy for the photo ๐Ÿ™‚

That was at the end of my first ever ride off-road tandem ride, down Lawnmower I think? Those switchbacks were interesting. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wot race?

There were loads of people asking about tee shirts all weekend, we're now taking orders again on the websiteif you want one, if we don't get a minimum of 25 we won't run so you'll get a refund.

Cheeky I know, but I don't suppose anyone has a gpx of the course have they? I can probably find it all again, but it'd save a bit of head scratching.

Mr_a got the Sunday ride on GPS but I think that he was too focused on racing in his skintight lycra on Saturday to squeeze a GPS in... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Aye, He's given me the mmo, which I can't use. I've reckoned the before-pub sunday ride on a low tech map based on what I recall.

I've found a few bits of the racecourse, but I don't know how to link those bits up, as the single track often isn't marked on the OS. I'm sure I could find it all again, but it'd be a ballache. Love to nip over the bridge to ride it all again, absolutely fab course, just wondered if sheldon or somebody had a gpx they'd be willign to share.

I've not got any gpx files of the FOD as everything is in my head. and to be honest we tried umpteen times to gps the course but ended up doing it manually as gps isn't that great down there and if we did you'd never follow it.

I'm happy to guide anybody any time though with a bit more notice. there are some better trails there but couldn't use them for the 'ride' on Sat.

nunu, I'll ask about different sizes

A brilliant brilliant weekend. Thanks again Sheldon and the other KoN. Amazing riding, lovely people, CHEESE, ale, bands, bike throwing, crazy Belgians - great event. See you at SSUK!

Oh, and I'd forgotten about the Polish Moonshine. That and Taz's green rocket fuel may be responsible for me forgetting other parts of the weekend too...

Ah yes... I had a few nips of Taz's green-meanie before the moshing started. Perhaps the two events were linked in some way?

Sorry for using the 'R' word nichemeister - my chain broke during a gentle pootle round the forest ๐Ÿ˜†

Brilliant weekend. If anyone fancies a ride and a beer in the North East of Scotland I can be contacted somehow โžก

cracking event guys. really good fun. great course, great ride sunday, and a really good vibe all the way through.
thought i was on for the 'first person to yop' on the day, and felt robbed of the 'noisiest brakes' prize ( they were helping the sore head no end... ), but the wtb saddle prize more than made up for it.
thanks to the organisers and their helpers for putting together a corking weekend. i haven't been so hungover in a long, long time.
brilliant!
will be tapping up a few of these offers for guides in the future for sure.

I had my Garmin running Saturday and Sunday (parent and child ride) uploaded it this morning but haven't checked it yet. If it's OK I'll make it public.

Don't laugh at my average speed (6 miles an hour I think)

Excellent weekend, a big thanks to all that had a hand in organising SSEC. Highlights for me were: -

A cracking 'ride' course with some great singletrack on the Sunday too.
and
The guy who sawed through his Kona, not sure i could have made the decision to do it that quick...

My kids now want to sign up for the SSUK10 and go to Belgium next year, which kinda says it all for me.

Top notch!!!!

Highlights .... the band on Saturday night and the never ending encore ..... the track - which seemed to change every lap - I didn't have a clue where I was anytime except the beer stop...... the beer stop - excellent choice of draft, only ever had freeminer out of a bottle ..... the weather - well done Sheldon .... everybody we met and made such a fuss of the girls ..... the cheeeeeeeeeeeeses ..... like I said all top notch

Banging On, it was the least I could do after the show you guys put on in Drumlanrig for us the other year.

Just one thing to note about gps and the FOD, a lot of the routes we do are quite 'cheeky' some locals are 100% against mtbs so if you go back and rie please respect anyone not on a bike. The other thing is that there are so many little trails there, and gps's arent that reliable so be prepared to get very lost in the maze of singletrack.

My offer stands to anyone, if you want to come ride again all you have to do is ask.

It's not about the bike... it's about the cheese.

Rik

We'll be bringing the boys to Belgium (will be their fourth SSEC). I meant to come over for a chat at weekend but never found time (good excuse for a trip to Drum I guess). Newcastle or Hull to Holland is a piece of p*ss option for northern folks - short and easy UK drive for afternoon / evening ferry. Kids play on ship and then proper overnight sleep, everyone fresh and ready for easy drive next morning to meet the Belgium nutters (kids are still chanting Bruno Bruno) ๐Ÿ™‚

Had major sulks on sunday because 7 yr old singletrack addict wanted to ride and 5 yr old didn't. Highly impressed that your girls refused the fire road family ride and demanded singletrack!

yup, they do like their skinny trial. Becca suffered on her wee bike tho' a few over the bars moments on the rooty corners..... She often wins the 'proper' crash tally tho which cheers her up no end....not that we're in any way a 'competitive' family oh no!!!!!

We have friends living near the Haig so I think a week off must be planned ๐Ÿ˜€

Just getting into this forum lark, it was great to see that it was such a family friendly event, so it now looks like I'll be doing a family trip to that Belgium next year, I can hardly wait, the wife best start her training now!
Bangin On, don't forget my offer still stands on the headbadge laser cutting!

Howdo Dave, you've made a full recovery then?

Mafu26 (Matt) I had an in depth chat with my brother about welding titanium, turns out you need an oxygen free environment in which to do it, unfortunately he doesn't have the facility to do it at his works, you could always try Leeds Uni.

Home just before midnight... the afternoon ride was worth staying for due to some lovely singletrack and the high probability it will be a long time before (or if) I return.

Belgium next year... I'm sounding out the wife for a trip with her and the boys etc.

Nice to start matching up forum names to faces I met!

Am contemplating making a longer trip out of Belgium next year - if it's a simple ferry journey from Newcastle then a great reason to drive up and ride Northern trails for a couple of days first...
