If I was the sort of lunatic that wanted to do DH on a hardtail, I'd defo build it singlespeed. You so rarely need the other gears anyway, so why have the grief, noise and cost of gears.

oh dear Simon... and you didn't have much riding planned before hand anyway! Should have competed in the weekender, then. Hope you're on the mend if it was bad enough to keep you from riding.
Yep, should have entered the Weekender! I broke my thumb with a silly off the first day in France - going for surgery on Tuesday ๐ Then I can get on with my recovery.
I thought GW had won this event on a roadbike that was designed for a small child years ago?
