Hi, how can I put this potentiometer on this plate?:

The potentiometer is this:  https://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/products/sram-xx1-eagle-power-meter

Looks like it's only compatible with 104 BCD chainrings, not direct mount.

Yes - as I understand it you mount the power meter to the cranks then use a 104BCD chainring on the power meter.

The link you referenced says :
CHAINRINGS :
Requires an X-SYNC 2™ or X-SYNC™ 104 BCD chainring.

So, what do I need to mount that potentiometer?

SRAM direct mount cranks.  It mounts to the cranks.  I'd recommend you read the page and the documentation you linked to; it's all in there.

Surely you mean strain guage? Aren't potentiometers variable? Also not actually used for measuring things?

I have only this option?:

Except you've shown a Quarq power meter, so no, you have more options than Power2Max.

What is it you're trying to do? The Quarq power meter (not potentiometer) in your post will fit SRAM X01/XX1 (and probably other) cranks, and then yes, you need a 104mm BCD chainring, like the one you linked to.

You could also use the P2M power meter you linked to, and you still need a 104mm BCD chainring like the one you linked to.

Why not a Stages NDS crank arm?

Yes.

But I'd have Power2Max or Quarq over a Stages every time. Not least with a Stages your cranks won't match as you'll have an aluminium NDS crank.

Still don’t match. Stages were novel when they came out, but reliability, whilst improved, still isn’t that good, they’re not that cheap anymore and they’re fundamentally less accurate than a P2M or Quarq measuring both sides.

the Quarq spider needs 8 bolt direct mount arms, its not made to be retrofitted onto any other SRAM cranks, the D-Zero spider is meant to be used as an upgrade to an existing Quarq MTB Crankset

if you need BB30 then Wiggle have some for a decent price

Bargain. Same price as the Stages LH crank!

Another thought: if the Stages crank arm above fits Next SL, it follows that the Cinch power meter spindle should work with the XX1 crank arms as well? (assuming non-GXP)

Looking at the link you put in your original post the direct mount chainring is not compatible with the powermeter you've shown in the photo. The link leads you to a SRAM Eagle pwoermeter, that basically shows the Quark pwoermeter replacing the direct mount spider onto which you mount a 104 BCD chainring. Though it seems the photo of the Quark pwoermeter you are showing is a generic picture as the location feature in the centre doesn't look like will be compatible to a Sram crank spline.

SO in answer to your question you need a Sram crank, the Sram comparable Quark pwoermeter and a 104bcd chainring ant then it will be obvious how it all fits together.

The chainring has to mount onto the Quark spider as the peddling force needs to be transmitted through it to the crank spindle so the pwoermeter can actually measure the power you're applying. So direct mounting a pwoermeter to the crank spindle AND direct mounting a chainring to the crank spindle won't work as your power will be transmitted directly do the crank spindle and not through the power meter direct mount spider.

How did you write pwoermeter three times? Impressive!

You physically can't mount a spider and a ring on the same crank, how would that even work!?

Just done a bit more reading on this though and it you can't just stick a Quarq (not Quark - that won't help any Googling!) spider on a non-power meter chainset. The 'normal' spider has 3 mounting points, the power meter cranks have 8 (as per the OP's original photo).

So, we still need to know what it is you have and what you're wanting to achieve.

You physically cannot combine the two items in your original post, they're wholly incompatible. If you have the Quarq cranks with that powermeter then you can add a 104mm BCD chainring. If you don't currently have a powermeter then you need one, and not just that spider to stick onto your XX1 arms, my mistake.

Basically... buy the XX1 BB30 chainset Dirtyrider linked to, because for £600 that's a bargain. It sounds like that's been superseded by "DUB" now, which does both GXP and BB30 fitments.
