Had to put a new cable in my SRAM XO rear mech / shifters last night, first time I've had to touch them in 2years but **** me - how frustrating??!! Got it all sorted and back together but took me about 45 mins to get the cable to feed through the shifter pulley system!!

Anyone found any quick methods of getting the cable to feed though? Am hoping this new gear cable lasts another 2 years to be honest so I don't have to touch the shifter internals again anytime soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Surprised you had an issue with that, usually takes just a few seconds. Just make sure the shifter is in right position and your cable isn't frayed.

lol, when I took the top off mine yesterday I was mystified as to how I was going to get the old (black coated cable) out and re-wind the new cable in such an ornate way as to make it work... Took someone else to point out for me that I was looking at the spring :S

It is a bit of a bitch, but squishing the front of the cable into a curve helps feed it through.

It should be a straight line if the lever is in the right place! to get the old one out just cutting the end off is the best way, that prevents dragging muck back through the shifter

Mechanic at my LBS recommends putting a little kink in the cable to feed it through the shifter then cutting it off before feeding into the runs. I'll be trying it for the first time later today so will see if it works
