Ok, so I got a good deal on a very nearly new carbon scale complete bike.
All is well with the exception of the SRAM X9 rear mech in which the spring doesn't work (it's the spring that tensions the chain as opposed to changes the gears).
When in position there is no pull in either direction from the spring and then if I manually move the cage (I have taken the mech off the bike!) the most odd thing is that the spring is moving the cage the wrong way so would essentially shorten the chain towards the chainset instead of tensioning it?!
Having looked at the mech the unit looks to be totally sealed as imagine if I could take it apart could reingage the spring or replace it.
Therefore if you've managed to not only read this whole post but also understand what the hell I'm on about any help/advice would be very gratefully received.
