Hi, has anyone got a technical diagram please? I've trawled through the website but can't find what I need. I took the shifter apart to "fix" it and a spring pinged out, can't tell where it's supposed to go back. Thanks.
Elf, thanks, but not the same. I can see where one end of the spring goes, but not the other.
I think it was dead anyway, just hoping to breathe a few more miles into it. Good excuse to upgrade to X0 tho! 🙂
I remember taking a Gripshift apart to change the cable, years ago...
After about 2 hours, it went in the bin. I went out and bought Shimano.
Your talking about the one from underneath? - it goes over one of the silver nubs and holds the little paddle back, then the other end should locate to keep tension on the spring.
I'm sure thats as clear as mud - but google x9 shifter rebulid or strip and theres a diagram somewhere

lol i had this exact problem, the spiral spring fits into a small round hole on the base and the U shaped bit slots in the side as pictured above its annoying cause it happened to me and i didn't have a clue what flew out got me all hot and bothered lol, i went on you-tube and typed sram x9 shifters and on there it tells you how do do it 🙂
It doesn't look like Elf's, nor does it look like the one on Ridemonkey. I have cleaned it, and refitted the spring where I think it goes, but I think the shifter has worn out. It is 5 years old and I ride that bike a lot. Thanks for everyone's help.
