Hi guys I'm just about to fit these for the first time along with new Sram gripshift grips and I've noticed the small section of grip on the actual shifter is a lot fatter than the extra grip I slide on next to it. Is this correct as it means my hands will have to bridge the raised ridge between shifter and grip which will feel very odd I think.

I cut down a grip to 90mm and with the X9 grip width is 135mm, enough room for my largish hands to grip without the bump of the X9 being obtrusive,

my solution is to use ODI Rogue grips, though i do have large hands.

Thanks guys I think the correct Sram grips for it are too skinny so it looks like I will maybe invest in some thicker lock ons as I don't like that ridge at all!

I had the same thing. You don't notice when riding.

I use cut down ODI Yeti grips but I can also recommend Bonti Foam grips.
