So I let my mate ride my bike back to back with one he was considering buying just to give some context - and he binned it twice on one little downhill but on some roots. Bent the lever blade on my current model Code R brakes.
It looks like the lever body is ok - just the lever bent and twisted - sources a new one £17 delivered which seems reasonable.
Trying to get my head round how to get t the old one out / put the new one in and I don’t quite understand the tech doc. It looks like it won’t involve any bleeding - but has anyone done this and got any tips please?
Google it , it’s quite a simple job I did one took 10 minutes
If the same as a guide it's more fiddly than impossible.
Grub screw out from behind the rubber... remove pin, remove lever... refit spring/washer, re-insert the correct way round... done.
Maybe easier than expected then - just need the lever to turn up and I’ll have a go at it. Luckily had a spare Code R new in a box I’ve chucked on the bike for now (it’s waiting for a new ht frame to turn up).
Even with the new lever blade my crashed Code R looks very secondhand - noticed my mate has got the caliper as well - huge gouges down one side. Luckily they’re build solid so it doesn’t look like it effects the function of the brake!
