just broke the chain whip:( smallest sprocket moves a couple of mil as if locked to locking ring!
any ideas?

If you have a suitable bench vice grasp the cassette really tightly in it, if it's wood-lined then even better as the teeth dig in and grip. Get the biggest spanner you can for the chain tool. Maybe put the skewer back in to prevent cassette tool slipping off.
