So i head off on a road spin today, and i start to hear something like a really loud banshee coming from the pedal area. Get off the bike and check the cleats, and one of the pedals is totally seized (its an effort to turn it with my hands, and there was also a bad vibration feeling coming from it, in the short time i was pedaling before turning back.

Any tips on what to do, how to fix it? I'm a bit of a fit and forget type person, but this never happened in all the years i was using Time pedals. They're about a year old.

Anyone? I just realised i don't have a hex wrench or screwdriver small enough to open it up.

have a look here http://www.speedplay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.support, it implies that you need to do some grease injection every so often to maintain them but there's strip down instructions too;

You could always buy a rebuild kit from that chap on the web. Oh wait, they closed him down!
