With apologies for being so crazy as to put up a thread about tyres…

I want to go back to what was my favourite tyre, Specialized Resolution Pro (formerly Adrenaline), but they are discontinued. Anybody gone from them to whatever the latest equivalent is (is that Captain?) - if so what opinion?

Just for a bit of framework for the question, I liked the great confident feel of the old Resolutions, also like the generous volume and slightly square shape, plus the good bite when cornering. The poor rolling resistance was neither here nor there for me personally, since I don't ride the mtb on the road much, if at all.

I use "the Captain" ones and have both the 2.0 and 2.2 ones on different bikes. I find the levels of grip to be very good and use them all year round. I have the sworks 2bliss ones and run the tubelessly.

I'm a recent convert to Spesh tyres, I run a 2.3 Eskar on the front and a 2.2 Captain on the rear. Love 'em, they're big!

Sorry, don't have experience of Captains, but recently put OE Eskar-controls back on; way better in non-bone-dry conditions than the Mountain Kings I'd replaced them with. Think I'll be trying more of their rubber in the future

Yea - I'm at the end of my Mountain King experiment. At last they have worn out! So what does 2bliss mean? Also, just because I'm too lazy to find out myself, how do Captain and Eskar types compare/what they for?

2bliss are tubeless ready ie have a tubeless bead but you need to put sealent in to keep them up. The Captains are xc/trail type tyres and Eskars are a bit bigger. You find eskars on enduros and pitchs with the captains on stumpjumpers and fsr's.

yeah, my stumpjumper came with a 2.2 Purgatory on the front & a 2.0 Captain Control on the back - both 2Bliss.
I'm quite pleased with them; only downside so far being that they don't seem to clear mud particularly readily.
I've now got sealant & valves for converting them to tubeless when i get some time.

The Captin's offer good grip in most conditions but don't last, i went through 2 in 2 weeks both tears in the sidewall but upto now have served me well.

I've got a pair of 2.0 tubeless fast tracks, they are brilliant tires. Running a 2.3 high roller front and one of the fastracks rear. May try a 2.2 captain for something s bit bigger.
