Big fat supertackies on the rims now and waiting to go the Alps but I want to take a set of lighter and more versatile set of USTs as well in case we decide that we want to explore further without the sole aid of chair lifts.

Last year I took my COnti Vert Pros and it is fair to say that they failed.

Cant get a set of 2.35" Highrollers for love nor toffee and so thinking of the Eskars.

Whats peoples opinions of them?

Looking for a high volume, fast rolling, low weight tyre and I think they should fit the bill.

Thanks in advance!

I really rate them. Find they are fast rolling, grippy and a decent enough volume - and they're light too, and pretty cheap.

I run tubes in mine so haven't tried them tubeless.

Very easy to pinch puncture, even running tubeless.

Good apart from that.

Got them on my Pitch, one of the best tyres I've ever used TBH.

Not sure how they'd fair in the Alps, I've been lent some double ply Maxxis High Roller Super Tackys which I've just fitted, but I'm taking the Eskars with me too.

Hatred. Utter hatred.

Flimsy sidewalls, likely to wash out on any sort of surface. Very, very unimpressed.

Go Conti, Mountain King or Rubber Queen.

Rate them highly, very highly in fact for the rocky stuff here. There are three sidewall versions, the S-works with the thin casing the Control, which is the 'standard' one and the Armadillo heavier but very strong sidewalls. There's a new version coming out soon though not sure when exactly and might not make it over from the states until the end of the year. I run the s-works up front as i had that already and a Control on the back I run them without tubes, on traversee wheels, went on without a hitch.

RATE.

Anyone having problems with punctures/sidewalls should try the Armadillo version.

CFH - i can't believe you are recommending mountain kings over eskars because of the 'flimsy sidewalls'. Mountain kings have the thinest sidewalls of any tyre I've ever seen! Also they wear out in about 5 rides.

ran them tubeless @ 20psi down some very gnarly lakeland descents without issues. Day to day love the grip and surefooted feel.

mine are the control version and sidewalls have held up well and I am a clumsy 16 stone rider!

when I first got them found they washed out a bit but since running them at a bit lower pressure I have had no issues.

Well, maybe it's the way I ride but I really didn't get on with them at all. contis seem a lot more hard wearing so far.

Great tyres, a worthy replacement for the excellent Enduro Pro tyres. Used everywhere from the Peaks to the Pyrenees with no problems.

First ride on mine (running tubeless) last night - I got them as I wanted a lighter tyre and I kill Maxxis LUST beads, so 2.35 LUST highrollers don't work for me.

Sidewalls look flimsy, but they made a pretty good first impression - break away sooner than the 2.5 highrollers I had on before, but that is to be expected. They weigh 500gms+ less each! They inflated easily and didn't need too much sealant to stop the sidewalls leaking.

Managed to burp one pretty badly (proper UST rims) on a little drop into a berm that I messed up, so I'd watch out for them for harder riding unless you're smooth. I'll be taking them to the alps for XC stuff but will revert to 2.5 Maxxis USTs for chairlift riding.
